Urgent Recall of Popular Porsche Models
In the United States, Australia, and other foreign countries, they have announced recalls for certain models of 911, 718 (Boxster/Cayman), and Panamera.
Moreover, Porsche is against the owners,Requested to suspend operation until wheel nut failure is resolved. The company said that it is doing so.
The recall is due to a manufacturing defect in the center locknut. According to Porsche, the defect could cause the locknut to break, potentially loosening the wheel.
Loosening of a wheel can lead to the wheel falling off and loss of control of the vehicle. This could increase the risk of accidents, damage, injury or death to vehicle occupants or road users."Porsche warns.
Target Vehicles and Response
The recall affects vehicles manufactured between 2023 and 2024. Specifically, the recall includes the following models
- GT series (GTS, GT3, GT3 RS) of the 992 generation 911
- Cayman GT4 RS
- Boxster Spyder RS
- Panamera GTS
Porsche is requesting that owners of the affected vehicles stop driving their vehicles until repairs are completed.
This is a very unusual response, and it speaks to the seriousness of the problem.
Impact on Porsche owners
This recall must come as a big shock to Porsche owners.
The stress of not being able to drive your car can be immense, especially for owners of the latest high-performance models.
The discovery of such a serious manufacturing defect raises questions about the brand's quality control. On the other hand, it is commendable that Porsche was quick to announce the recall and request that owners cease driving with owner safety as the top priority.
This recall is an example of the importance and difficulty of quality control, even for a luxury sports car manufacturer. It remains to be seen how Porsche will resolve this issue and regain the lost trust.
For owners, this will mean a period of time when they will not be able to drive their beloved cars, but for safety reasons, it would be wise to follow Porsche's instructions.
We can only hope that Porsche will complete the repairs as soon as possible and that the owners will be able to enjoy their time with their cars again.
At the time of writing, there does not appear to be any recalls in Japan. Therefore,We request that you refrain from contacting dealers, etc.

Hello. - Hello.
I just did a search and found that the center lock was recalled in 2011 as well.

Last time it was probably an elementary mistake of insufficient tightening torque, and I think this time it is also unfashionable.
Eight 718 GT4s, including mine, have broken engines and are under warranty replacement, as well as PADMs, including the Spyder.
This engine seems to have a week point around the head, with several broken rocker arms, lash adjusters, camshafts, and camshaft bolts.
I personally feel that Porsche has no quality control at all.
Hello Nak.
What a surprise, the center lock was recalled in 2011 as well!
I certainly hear that story about the 718GT4.
And I am fed up with the frequency of PADM failures, as well as 981 and 991. This is what I want a recall or service campaign for.
Quality issues are probabilistic and inevitable, but I would like to see them addressed.
