I was surprised to see a Porsche that tests the driver's ability! Test drive a Porsche 986 Boxster S.

This time, at Ashiu Driveway986 Boxster S, 6-speed manual transmission, which my husband introduced on his blog before.I was given the opportunity to test drive the This cute little Boxster features a midship engine, maximum output of 252 hp, compact body, and light weight.
In conclusion.Porsche, where the driver's skill is truly reflected. It was a car that was "just like a car. It is a car where the driver's driving skill is directly reflected in the car's performance. It was truly a great experience.
986 Boxster S, now the experience!
First. What I felt from the moment I started the engine was a mild and elegant impression. The engine's starting sound was subdued, and the silver body and brown interior matched perfectly, creating a sophisticated and mature atmosphere.
And then you actually drive it,The 981 Boxster GTS in my house feels like a cyborg,The car had a strong, pleasantly analog feel.
The clutch feels light and the shift lever is smooth and easy to operate. Especially in handling, the car turns more than I expected. It was easier to turn and handle than the 991 Carrera and the 964 Carrera 2 that I had driven before.
The test ride took only about 10 minutes. It was very mild and elegant! When I returned to the observatory in Ashiu, my husband had this to say.
"Maybe you drove it like you always do, with a bit of trepidation, and came home without even the slightest taste of the 986 Boxster S's performance.
And.
No, that's exactly right... (laughs)
After all, when it's someone's precious car, you say to yourself, "Okay, I'm going to step on it! Let's step on it! Let's go! And as usual, I was driving in 3rd and 4th gear like an AT car even though it was a MT car... Next, the owner was driving and I was riding in the passenger seat, so I could experience the 986 Boxster S for myself.
Boxster S released by the owner
The moment the owner took over driving...I was so surprised.
."Wow, it sounds so good! It's a very nice engine sound, isn't it? And it's so light! It turns! It's amazing!I was very excited," I said.
It was no wonder: the car was transformed as if it were a different animal, the engine was light and very lively, almost like a living creature.
The Boxster, which had been quiet and docile when I was driving, unleashed its power, cutting into the corners dynamically and rapidly.
What? This car turns so much!"
I couldn't help but say aloud that the car was so happy to be there, as if it were a fish out of water swimming around freely.
Oh no, I was in trouble. I felt ashamed of my driving.
After the test drive, the owner told us this story.
'Cars of this era are compact in size and light. And they don't have as much power, and they don't have electronic controls like a modern Porsche,If you get carried away and make a driving mistake, you can be in big trouble, a so-called hassle car.But that's what makes it fun.
On the other hand, the Taikan you are driving now is very stable even in the rain, no matter what kind of turns you make, and it is very safe because of its weight, right? Now, if you ride with your children most of the time, I think a modern Porsche is safer and definitely better than a cumbersome car like a 986 (laughs). But if in the future you want to hone your manual skills and become more proficient at driving, then I would definitely encourage you to drive it. Because it really is a fun car!"
And.
Even though it is an old Porsche, I think the marginal performance of this car is higher than I expected, but I usually drive without thinking about load transfer, so I became a fearful driver about these analog cars.
I haven't been to any driving schools lately, so I'm thinking that this experience might be a good opportunity to go to the Porsche Experience Center (PEC) and try driving a bare-bones 718 Cayman or Boxster. (Although, the 718 is also insanely expensive in performance...)
Driving, day in and day out
Through this test drive, I strongly felt the appeal of Porsche, which truly reflects the skill of the driver. Although I am not sure that I will ever be able to fully exploit the performance limits of this car, it was an opportunity for me to rediscover the depth of Porsche's nostalgia.
Thank you, owner, for letting us ride in your precious car!

Good morning. I am very interested in a 986 Boxster.... I don't know when it will be, but I would definitely like to own a 986 someday.... It may end up being a dream lol
Kinoppi Tokushima.
Thank you!
>Since I have owned the NC1 Roadster, I have become more aware of load shifting and other aspects of driving.
Oh, I see! Looks like a lot of fun...!
My husband said that the 986 is "a car with deep pockets," and I'm sure it must be great fun for Mr. Kinoppi to drive...
I'll work on my driving skills so that someday I can drive a little more decently (laughs).
