Long-awaited PDK for Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman GTS4.0, GT4, and Spyder

PDK is now available in the 718 high-grade model

In the past, PDK has been available for GTS models, butPDK is now available for the Spyder and GT4, which have only been available in MT versions. This is probably good news for many people.
Moreover, while the engines in previous 718 models were horizontally opposed four-cylinders, the new 718 Boxster GTS 4.0, 718 Cayman GTS 4.0, 718 Spyder, and 718 Cayman GT4 will be equipped with the4.0L horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine is backThe company is doing so.
Even though it is a limited edition model, from what I have heard, there is likely to be some production, so there will be many people who will want this.
718 PDK. husband want?
So far, in comments and messages on the blog, we've received a lot of comments about "I would like to know your husband's opinion on the addition of PDK to the 718GTS, Spyder and GT4 models.I had received several comments from people who said, "I'm not sure what you mean by that.
Regarding the news that PDK models will be added to the 718 Boxster GTS 4.0, 718 Cayman GTS 4.0, 718 Spyder, and 718 Cayman GT4, while the GTS has been around since the previous generationPDK can now be selected for GT4 and Spyder.I think this is the first time for me to do this, so it seems to be a very popular topic of conversation.
And as for the 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4.0-100km/h acceleration is about 0.5 seconds faster than the manual transmission version, and the specs are close to those of the 911.This is something that was unthinkable in the old Porsche. This was unthinkable in the old Porsche days. In the past, Boxster and Cayman had a clear gap to 911 that they could never catch up.
Personal. The focus of this issue is the PDK of GT4.I'm sure it would be very fast and fun to drive on a circuit with it. I think it would be very fast and fun to drive it on the track. But there are rumors of a GT4RS coming out, so if I were to buy one mainly for the track, I'd probably wait a little longer and go for the GT4RS.
Also, if I were to buy a Spyder, I would want to enjoy winding roads with a manual transmission, rather than seeking speed.

In addition, the performance of the PDK is also discussed in the following section.
Well... the performance of the latest PDK is really great, and it shifts gears instantly, just like a game.I can see why it's more fun than MT in some ways.I usually drive a manual transmission Porsche, and I think I know the charm of manual transmission well enough, but it's hard to throw away the advantages of PDK.
I don't think Porsche's PDK should be viewed as an "automatic".I think it's that much fun. I think it's that much fun.
He said.
I see...I'm very curious when you put it that way. I wonder if anyone you know will purchase it...lol.

The other day, I was informed by a dealer that there is a production quota for the 718 Spyder, which was surprising since I thought that orders for the Spyder and GT4 had been closed for a long time. I guess there may be various reasons for this, such as the fact that 981 users are hesitant to switch to a new model due to sound concerns. Even at CAR SENSOR, 718 Spyder and GT4 are in stock, which is hard to believe that it is so soon after the release.
Aside from the Spyder, I think some people will run the GT4 on the track, so it's good to see more PDK choices.
The 718, Spyder, GT4, and GTS4.0 have revived the 6-cylinder, and I have a good feeling that the Boxster Cayman's next model will also revive the 6-cylinder in the entry-level model, but at the same time, I am a little worried that Porsche may decide that the MT will not sell well due to the situation where they have to offer PDK in these models and discontinue the MT. I am a little worried that Porsche may decide that MT is not selling well and discontinue or reduce it. Personally, I don't plan to change from my 981 for the time being, so I am not so worried about it.
I personally think that if the 718 sticks with the 4 cylinder, it would be fun if it was motor assisted instead of turbo assisted.
If the motor runs smoothly immediately after startup and in town driving, and if the coarse-grained engine sound of the four-cylinder is added at high speeds, there is an interesting sense of contrast.

>The other day I was informed by a dealer that they have a production quota for the 718Spyder.
I see the production slots are still coming around this time of year!
As you say, the corona seems to have a great impact...
And surely, when PDK is released, there will still be more demand for it, and
It seems that more and more MTs are going to become less and less common in the Japanese Porsche lineup.
I got to drive a Cayenne Hybrid the other day myself.
I can't believe how good it feels to have a moto assist!!!! and so fresh and so inspiring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And now that our family's SUV choice is finally settled (LOL), I hope to let you know in another post!
This is my first post.
I used to drive a 981 until about 2 years ago, then I was transferred to a snowy cold region and unfortunately sold it.
However, I still could not forget the charm of the 3.4 liter flat 6 (especially the PDK shifting and responsive engine sound), and I came across this site in agony.
I don't have the financial resources to own more than one (and a classic at that!). Unfortunately, I don't have the financial resources to own one, so I don't have a reference in that regard, but I am grateful for the flat perspective and very helpful information, unlike the online articles of lantern-holders.
I am currently looking for a 981 Cayman GTSPDK to drive from April to November when there is no snow, but I have not been able to find a good one, and even if there was one, it is 4-5 years old and costs about 8 million yen. I am now thinking, "If that's the case, I could get a power loan and get a 4.0 GTS.
Now that the PDK is available and Porsche Japan's configurator can be built (although the price was firmly increased), I am seriously considering purchasing one (somehow the price of the PDK is 480,000 yen for the bare S and 552,000 yen for the GTS!) ) I am seriously considering purchasing the GTS.
From what I have read so far, I think the "best is the latest", but my only concern is the "sound". According to Youtube and user information, the sound is not as good as 3.4 (not a throaty sound, but a low, muffled sound: like a flat 4 at high RPM?) This is one of the points that make me hesitate to purchase the 3.4.
I hope the sound is also improved for the price increase (...or not).
I have test-driven a bare-bones 718, and while I could sense evolution, the engine sounded more like a Subaru from a long time ago, and the turbo lag felt when stepping out from low speeds made it not a purchase for me.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could get on the 4.0 once and raise your review.
Former 981 Cayman S PDK driver.
Thank you for your comment!

And thank you so much for finding this site from among the many car blogs.

I didn't know they were that expensive...! The popularity of the 981GTS is amazing...
My husband also watched a lot of videos as he fished around regarding the sound of the 718GTS4.0.
I had the same impression as the former 981 Cayman S PDK rider.
"It sounded better than I thought it would, but
The overall sound is low and muffled, and is totally different from the piercing, pleasant sound of the 981...I wouldn't dare to buy a 981GTS without this sound..."
He said something like.
>I would greatly appreciate it if you could get on 4.0 once and raise your review.
Wow so true! I would love to have my husband test drive it. It would be great if we could do it at the dealership, but there's a chance someone we know might be buying one.
I'll ask again!
Thank you for your continued support.
Spyder and GT4, as I'm sure you know.
I heard that LHD is also coming in.
I made a reservation for now (^...^;)
Mr. Whooper.
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo you made a reservation!
If you buy it, I would love to hear your thoughts... !!!!!
Hi Mina.
I see that both GT4 Spyder cars are already on CarSensor in stock.
Was it for investment purposes?
I don't particularly plan to sell, but I am concerned that it hasn't gone up that much.
Well, I personally buy it because I think it will be the last NA engine, even though it will be unpopular.
There were a few videos of PDK running the Nurburgring uploaded there, so I knew it would be there.
I am still thinking that PDK is the way to go, but I am not sure about RS.
There were rumors last time, but it was 718 that was being tested.
I have a feeling that this RS rumor will also mean that PDK was the only development.
I have done a lot of research on the exhaust note and think it is the GPF that is not attached.
There is no content here, but the Japanese version has a large intermediate pipe of the same shape. The Japanese version has a large intermediate pipe of the same shape as the Japanese version, so it is not included.
I suspect that the sound quality is spoiled.
We are about to take delivery of our car.

It seems that some people are looking for investment purposes...I wonder if many of them have had to let go because of Corona.

I see! There's all kinds of rumors and information out there, but until Porsche actually announces it...
You never know what will happen, right?
So you are finally taking delivery of your car soon!
I imagine it must be a lot of fun...!
Our 992 will be delivered soon.
Thank you for your continued support.
Hi Mina.
Sorry for the delay, but congratulations on the birth of your baby.
I have commented before that we have a baby boy in our family and our family of five is having a flurry of activity. (He was supposed to be born in July, but he was born in May...the world changes when you have three kids...sweat)
Well, we switched from a Cayenne to an RX as our family car, and I drive another bare-bones 718 Boxster. And today, I ordered a 718 Spyder PDK with determination. LOL!
I have no idea when the car will be delivered, but I will be visiting Ashiu from time to time, so please let me say hello again if the timing is right.
I would like to enjoy the waiting time nonchalantly, imagining a 4-liter NA engine.
I look forward to your continued blogging.
mtty1221.
Congratulations!
When you have three children, the world really changes.
When the older children are somewhat older, they take care of me in various ways, and it is very interesting to see how they have grown.
And today, I ordered a 718 Spyder PDK with determination. LOL!
Oh, yes!!! That's great: !!!!
Congratulations!
My husband often goes to Ashiari, so we are looking forward to seeing you there when the car is delivered.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mina.
Today I happened to have the opportunity to test drive a 718 Cayman GTS 4.0.
...The ride is quite comfortable. I can't compare it to my current 981 Spyder (3-4 year old Pirelli P zero tires, steel brakes, bucket seats), but the test car has Michelin PS4(S?) and sport seats, so there is a difference, but it was a very comfortable ride. Even with the Sport Plus, the ride was comfortable and the thrust at highway junctions was mild.
The shift knob was longer than the 981 Spyder and the clutch was much lighter.
The sound is lower than the 981, but not less audible, which is a good impression. The fluttering sound when the gas pedal is released is barely audible, and the sound of the 3-cylinder deactivation was not discernible (did it not activate?). The sound of three cylinder deactivation was not discernible (did it not work?).
I thought it was very easy to ride and would not get tired over long distances. The sound was not as negative as I thought it would be, and I thought there might be room for growth as the mileage increases and the sound might change as the muffler burns out.
Mr. Ishi.
>Today I happened to have the opportunity to test drive a 718 Cayman GTS 4.0.
Oh! What a...! Such a precious and wonderful opportunity,,, I am so jealous...!
Overall, you had a very positive impression of the place.
I am sure that the evolution of performance as a car from the 981 must be amazing.
I'd love to test drive one myself!
