A new tire jointly developed by Porsche and Michelin for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS,Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 (PSS5)appeared.

This tire is not just an evolutionary version.Significantly reduced lap times in wet conditionsand designed to allow the driver to enjoy circuit driving longer and safer.

Shaved 10 seconds off in wet conditions

The most important feature of PSS5 is its tremendous grip on wet surfaces and in low temperature conditions.

On the technical 2.8 km wet "3bis" circuit at Michelin's development center, test drivers with PSS5 tires on a 911 GT3 RS compared them to conventional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 NO tires, and wow!Shaved more than 10 seconds off the lap timeThe company has done so. The development of the PSS5 was the result of theMr. Jorg BergmeisterHe was also involved in the project. He has fine-tuned the tires to increase the threshold at which they begin to lose contact with the road surface. This, he says, has improved driving stability in wet conditions, allowing the GT3 RS to maximize its performance with more confidence.

The PSS5 features increased tread depth, a special groove design, and a specialized rubber and silica compound. These technologies are said to allow the tires to warm up faster and maintain optimal conditions longer.

Eventually, I suspect that the CUP2 will be rolled out to other grades and will be available in general stores, but I am sure that there are many GT-based owners who do not need a dry-only tire with as much high-grip as the CUP2.
