For those considering buying a Porsche Panamera (971) - What you need to know in advance.

Before buying a Panamera
Originally.I started this blog because I love Panamera. Now I write articles about Porsches other than the Panamera, but at the time of its establishment, I wrote only about the Panamera every single day.
And recently, I've been getting more and more comments on past articles I've written about the Panamera, where I wrote, "I didn't know the Panamera was ____! Good to know in advance. In response to many of you writing to us with content such as
(971) Things you might want to know before buying a Panamera.
We decided to summarize the following information about the
1 Panamera is big
."The Panamera is big.I don't think I have to write anything about the size of the Panamera... (-_-) When I checked the size of the normal Panamera again, I found that it is about the same size as the original Panamera, but the size of the Panamera is much smaller.
Height: 1,425 mm, Width: 1,935 mm, Length: 5,050 mm
It has become a Because of this size, the Panamera must have aparking time problemis followed.
In suburban parking lots, there is no problem because the width of one car is often wide enough, but many urban parking lots and standing parking lots are narrow. So, even in places where you have been able to park your car without any problem, you may find it difficult to park in a parking lot.You can't park in a Panamera.(You can park there if you want to, but the risk of rubbing is great.)The following situations will be encountered.
In addition, theThe loopholes that used to be used normally will no longer be able to be driven on.(It can be driven, but the risk is high when passing oncoming traffic.)I think you should also consider the following.
2 Keyless entry is not standard equipment.
The Panamera is often compared to luxury sedans such as the Mercedes S-Class. Naturally, the "Panamerakeyless entry(Has the option name changed from Comfort Access to Porsche Entry and Drive System?)is standard equipment, right?I would think, "I'm not sure I can do that," but that's not the case.
Porsche is a sports car manufacturer, and the Panamera is more a sports car than a luxury sedan.(I realized this the other day when I compared my ride with a Mercedes S63AMG coupe)Perhaps that is why the keyless entry feature is currently an optional choice. The Panamera Turbo, by the way, comes standard.
The standard equipment may change in the future, but according to the information we received from Porsche Owner's File, the following is a list of the models that will be equipped as standard equipment.Keyless entry was not standard on the Panamera 4S, at least as of the October 2018 delivery.
3 I heard you can choose 4+1 seats?
Last October, the Panamera GTS was unveiledThe Panamera GTS was And this Panamera GTS has an optional "4 + 1 sheetNow you can choose the "I"! In other words.Rear seats can accommodate three people. That is to say. Until now, in purchasing a Panamera
The Panamera is a 4-seater... If I want a 5-seater, I should get a Sport Turismo... But then, the Cayenne would be a more relaxing ride. But then I'd have to go for an SUV... then maybe an S-Class or a 7-Series...
I am very grateful that I don't have to worry about that anymore.
Later, in a comment on this blog, he said, "Panamera as of November 2018 order, with 4+1 seats available.I wonder if the regular Panamera is now available to choose from, since someone wrote "I'm not sure.
It would be a good idea to check with your dealer representative about this before you buy.
Below is an addendum to the 4+1 sheet (3.14.2019) from a reader who asked for an earful
Speaking of which, here's a follow-up on the 4+1 seat. Option cost is ¥137,000 as of November 2019.(Tax included)So I adapted it to a base grade Panamera and found something interesting!
In the Sport Turismo, there are switches on either side to electrically fold down the rear seats from inside the rear trunk, but there are no switches for the 4+1 seats. It was It was originally located directly above the luggage net and in front of the trunk light. Not all of the rear seat equipment was the same as in the Sport Turismo. I thought it would be more convenient to have a switch, but I also thought it might be safer to have a manual switch if I put something in the back seat! (Mr. Tommy)
4 Rear axle steering is a must
."The must have option for the Panamera is rear axle steering!and as I have written many times on this blog, this option is a must for a behemoth like the Panamera.
When making a sharp turn, making a U-turn, parking, driving on a winding road, etc.It makes all the difference without it.(The 970 Panamera Edition that we previously had in our house did not have rear axle steering, but the difference is obvious.)
In fact, people around me who have purchased a Panamera, as well as blog readers, have said, "Rear axle steering is the right thing to put on!Many people say, "I'm not a Porsche owner. For example, in a previous Porsche Owner's File report.
Due in part to the long wheelbase effect of the rear axle steering, large curves at high speeds are driven through as if they were straight lines; even in situations where U-turns are made, the short wheelbase effect of the rear axle steering can be felt there.Where previously a full lane of traffic had to turn, it is now possible to turn around in one lane without strain.
He wrote.
5 To move the passenger seat from the driver's seat
I previously blogged about "Ability to move the front passenger seat from the driver's seat in the Panamera Turbo. With regard to the "Panamera 4, Panamera 4, Panamera 4S, Panamera 4 Executive, and Panamera 4S Executive standard seats," this feature is not supported by theElectric seats with 14-way memory function (front seats) optionalThe "A" must be selected.
Incidentally, this "Electric seats with 14-way memory function (front seats) optionalIf the "Easy Entry" seat is selected as an option, the steering column will also be electrically adjustable to enhance the easy-entry function.(With the standard seat in place, the steering wheel won't even move with the easy-entry feature.)
6 Panamera 4E Hybrid connector is J1772
According to what you reported in the Porsche Owner's File.971 Panamera 4E Hybrid as of January 2018 delivery. The connector for PHV/EV is J1772.
CHAdeMO
SAE J1772 (or is there a notation like IEC62196?)
While there are two types ofOnly J1772 connector compatible with Panamera 4E HybridHe said. "There's a free charging port in my neighborhood, so that's convenient!" but if the connector shape of the charging port there is different, charging will not be possible.
7 Panamera V6 engine
Panamera's V6 engine comes in two types: 3.0L (2995cc) and 2.9L (2894cc)but the 3.0L engines used in the stock and 4 are Audi engines.(Designed by Porsche, built by Audi)It is believed that this is the case.(Referenced article:.Inside Porsche's new V8 and V6 powertrains.(Audi A8 55 TFSI Quattro (4WD/8AT) [Test Drive])
However, not long ago, my husband was talking to the service manager at the nearest Porsche Center and he said, "Now every Panamera engine is made by Porsche. He mentioned glancingly that "I'm not sure," so perhaps all of them are equipped with Porsche engines.
Ask your representative a question!
It is possible that the Porsche Center does not know about the changes in the model's specifications or the detailed options.(It's hard to keep up with all the latest news, isn't it?)Basics.Do your own research and ask questions here before you buy if you have any concerns.seems to be a good idea.
It's an expensive purchase, so after you buy it, you can't just say, "Oh, that's right! Oh shit!I would like to make sure that there is no such thing as "I'm not sure what I want to do, but I'm sure there are many more things I can write about when I think about the detailed options.

Good theme!
Porsche's specs are hard to figure out!
The concept of what is standard is tenuous, and many don't even know what it refers to because of the translations!
And because the absolute volume of people buying is so small, there is very little information available.
It used to be easy to see the differences in the booklet (?) that came with the catalog. It used to be easy to see the differences in the booklet (?) that came with the catalog, but that has been discontinued as well.
I managed to get an image of the last Cayenne 958 I bought, but the new Cayenne I took delivery of last week struggled with the configurator!
Please feature the usability of PCM!
Mr. Wind Slope.
It's been a while! Thank you for saying so!
>Many of them don't know what I'm referring to because of the translation!
You're right...I totally understand!
To begin with, it's pretty confusing, like option relationships, and similar things are in different categories...it's complicated.
>I managed to get an image of the Cayenne 958 I bought last time, but the new Cayenne, delivered last week, struggled with the configurator!
Oooh, a new Cayenne delivered! I'm so jealous. !!!!
Must be cool! ^^^!
As for the usability of PCM, we have been using it for quite some time now, and we use it normally without any discomfort (although not all of its functions are available).
If you have any questions, I would be very happy to hear from you.
Nice to meet you. Always a pleasure to see you here!
I now own a 970 Panamera Turbo.
I am thinking of buying a 971 turbo, but the staff at the store I frequent said, "Only the Turismo can choose the 4+1 seat. It may not pass the inspection".
I guess it is only possible if you are a big store or a VIP like mina-san (´-ω-ω-`).
Also, I know it's not important, but I learned about it on this blog and I'm definitely going to put it on myself.
What's [rear axle steering]?
It is also written as [rear axle steering], isn't it? Which is the official name?
uric acid
Thank you for visiting my blog!
>I now own a 970 Panamera Turbo.
I'm thinking about buying a >971 turbo.
Oooh 970 Panamera Turbo! That's so cool!
I only see one car in my neighborhood, but it is always running with its wings out, and every time I see it, I end up taking a picture of it (laughs).
I can't choose the 4+1 seats in the 971 Panamera in the configurator.
The dealer rep told me when I met with him last week that you can put any model on when you order from the store!
But it's a 4+1 seat, not a 5-seat, so you have to straddle the center console..." he said.
>I'm going to put it on myself for sure after learning about it on this blog.
>Rear Accelerator Steering?
>It is also written as [rear axle steering], isn't it? Which is the official name?
I also thought it was "rear axle" at first, but the official name is "rear axle steering.
Please let us know how the 971 Panamera Turbo rides when you get it!
That's a good summary that I'll definitely read before I buy, very informative! I never thought about [5 How to move the front passenger seat from the driver's seat] and didn't get the option. I would like to have this option if I am carrying a child or someone who is not familiar with the operation of the vehicle. I mainly carry my parents in this vehicle, but now that I think about it, it would have been better to be able to move the front passenger seat because I am not familiar with how to operate it. It's a learning experience!
Mr. Tommy.
Thank you! There is much more to think about.
>Although this vehicle is mainly for my parents, in retrospect, I would have preferred to be able to move the front passenger seat because I was not familiar with its operation.
Ah, I see... Indeed, my parents are also fumbling with adjusting their seats at all (lol)... sounds like a good idea for that kind of thing!
Thank you for your continued support.
Nice to meet you. This is my first time reading this article, I just made a deposit on 3/4 and the car is a Panamera 4E hybrid ST. As a first time Porsche owner, I am often confused by the variety of options, and I don't want to regret it later, as you have mentioned above, so I have been reading various websites and came across this article. I have learned a lot from this article. I will continue to read it, thank you very much!
ko.ike.
>I just put a down payment on a 3/4, the car is a Panamera 4E hybrid ST.
Oh wow congrats!!! That's a cool Panamera 4E hybrid ST!
It's true that Porsche has a really large number of options, and some of them are difficult to understand what they are talking about when you look at them in the configurator...
>I came across this article while reading through various sites. It is truly very informative.
Thank you for saying so!
I hope to continue to write useful and enjoyable articles for everyone, so please let me know what you think.
Thank you for your continued support!

Thank you for everything you do for us too!
>The Sport Turismo has a switch on either side to electrically fold down the rear seats from within the rear trunk, but the 4+1 seat did not have a switch.
Oh, thank you for that valuable information! I see!
This is the kind of thing you never notice until you actually buy and touch it...!
Wow, thank you!
Here, I'm adding this information to this article as information that Tommy gave me!
Thank you very much!
Always a pleasure to see you here!

I've recently become very interested in the Panamera and found your site! Very informative, as there's not a lot of raw information out there!
I actually ordered Pana based on this reference.
When I saw the review of the Loperaio Pana, I suddenly wondered about the hatchback. In the video, the hatchback was open pretty high. Would it actually hit a pipe or something on the ceiling in a parking lot outside?

Thank you for your comment.
>I recently became very interested in the Panamera and found your site! Very informative as there's not a lot of raw information out there!

Wow that's great !!!! That you were interested and actually bought it... wow!
I would be very happy if you could tell me what you think of the car when you receive it and drive it.
Hatchback, I didn't pay much attention to it, but sure enough, when I checked, it is raised quite high.
When I was searching for images, it was still open to the top than the taller foreigner, so it must be about 2m.
I've never hit it on the road.
First of all, there aren't many parking lots in the city that can accommodate the width of the Panamera (most are under 1900mm, but the Panamera is over 1950mm).
At that point, you can't park standing or in tight spaces, so maybe that's why I just never bothered ^^^.
But I don't see anything on the internet that says it will be a hit, so I think it will probably be OK.
J11050, Mina
It opens quite high, so you have to be careful at first if you have a low cabin. You can set the maximum height at which the hatchback opens. The item is called "Rear Lid Opening Height Adjustment" (page 259 of the 2017 Panamera Series in the URL below). 3. "Move the rear lid to the height you wish to set." But the dealer told me to open the hatch and then manually move it to adjust the height, then press the button long enough to set the height. I didn't feel good because I felt like I was forcing the hatch to move, but it seems to be the official way to adjust the height. https://www.porsche.com/japan/jp/accessoriesandservice/porscheservice/ vehicleinformation/manual/
Oh Tommy!!!
What clear and valuable information! Thank you!
>The dealer told me to open the hatch and then manually move it to adjust the height, then press the button long enough to set the height.
I didn't know that was possible! And if this is the official way to adjust the height, well, that's a relief!
Thank you!
Mr. Tommy.
Thanks for the great info!
I did some quick research and found a video of an American dealer putting it into practice!
Now that's a relief!
