Taikan Turbo, test drive
The other day, belatedly, I was asked byI had the opportunity to test drive Porsche's EV sports car, the Taikan, for the first time.I went to a preview of Taikan the winter before last. Therefore, it had been more than a year and a half since I first saw the Taikan with my own eyes.
My husband will write a detailed report at a later date, so I hope to write what I felt from a wife/woman's perspective as I felt it.
This time, I happened to be able to test drive the car for a little longer than usual, so I was able to drive on various roads, including highways, uphill and downhill, as well as on ordinary roads.
By the way. This time, we were given a test drive of the Taikan Turbo. The body color is Frozen Berry Metallic, and it is the same test car that my husband had been allowed to take for a brief test drive around town.
First Impressions of the Porsche Taikan
First, my first impression when I drove the Taikan was.Looks like a 992 (Porsche 911)!The ride quality was firm and the suspension was firmer than I had expected. The ride was firmer than I had imagined, the suspension was firm, the steering had just the right amount of weight, and the handling had a sense of oneness with the Porsche itself.
The Taikan looks like a Panamera, but feels like a 911.
I had often heard people around me say that, but when I actually drove the car myself, I was surprised to hear that "You're so right.I thought, "I'm in a sports car. On the way there, I even forgot for a moment that I was driving a Taikan and thought that I was driving a genuine sports car.
However, this does not mean that the ride is uncomfortable, nor that it is too hard even at low speeds. It is not too hard even at low speeds. There is a gap between the apparent image and the actual ride. With just a "+", you can ride in a normal and comfortable way around town, just like a 911.
However, the majority of wives in the world have a smoother, more moist ride(like the Panamera and Cayenne)I think I would prefer the
Incidentally, the back seat can accommodate an adult normally, but "Comfortable to sit comfortablyIt's not quite "the same" as "the same" as the other two. When my husband, who is 178 cm tall, sits down, there is room for one fist.
As for the ease of driving, I got the impression that it was easier to drive than the Panamera. The Panamera's body size is slightly larger than that of the Taikan, giving it a huge feel, but I was able to drive the Taikan without worrying so much about the width of the car.
As for this, it may be that I used to drive a Panamera and now a Cayenne, so I am relatively used to driving a car with a larger body size...
Even so, the Taikan is indeed a Porsche. The handling is excellent and the car can be driven as expected, so there is not so much fear due to the large size of the body.I think.
Even though it is an EV car, the underlying driving style is unmistakably that of a Porsche.
Taikan driving on the highway
The most surprising thing about driving the Taikan for me was how it drove on the highway. Compared to other cars I have driven, it was outstanding. It was super flat and pleasant. The following is a list of the most common problems with the "C" in the "C" column.
From the acceleration phase past the ETC.It is as if the N and S poles of a magnet attract each other, and the surface of the road is snugly attached to the surface of the road.It drives well, even flatter than the flatness that surprised me when I drove the GT3 on the highway.
Highway seams only make a rattling sound, but vibration is quickly suppressed, and when changing lanes, no matter what angle you enter, it's like a linear motor car.(I've never been on a linear motor train.)It goes on smoothly and without friction.
."That's so great! It feels so good!"
I couldn't help but say it out loud more than once.
My husband said, "It's an option to be so flat.Because it has PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control System). My husband will write about this in a test drive article.
I also tried using ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) on the highway and it seemed smarter than the cruise control in the days of the 971 Panamera.
The previous cruise control system would suddenly accelerate as soon as there was no more traffic ahead of it, and the brakes would also be "off".Oh, you haven't stepped on it yet?In the case of the Taikan, however, acceleration and deceleration were very smooth and smooth.
This would be a good idea.Even women who are not used to driving on highways can drive long distances with ease.I think.
The Taikan also came with the Porsche Electric Sport Sound option, which was a very pleasant sound.
It's hard to describe, but it sounded like a "quon" or a "poof"... like a spaceship in Star Wars... a futuristic sound, and it was really pleasant, with no discrepancy from the sensation of stepping on the accelerator pedal.
That thing is going to be addictive (laughs).
I have nothing to say about the driving, but I dare say there are some negative points. The center console and navigation system area was difficult to operate, and the navigation system was a little confusing.
The iPad-like screen on the center console is also of the type that responds not only to touch but also to push until it clicks, so I thought, "This would be easier to push if it were a button with an uneven surface.
Well, I guess if you get used to it, you can operate it without problems.
On the display-related front, the optional "Passenger Display" provides a 10.9-inch touch screen on the passenger side. Here, too, they can change vehicle settings and operate routes.
My husband, however, is not.
I don't think the wife will use this function if she rides in the passenger seat. I think she would be happier with the TV.
(laughter).
Taikan, your wife would love to drive.
I had the opportunity to test drive the Taikan this time.If you are taking a family or a couple for a test drive, we would love for your wife to drive as well!I thought, "I'm not going to be able to do that.
You can't get a sense of the appeal of the Taikan just by riding in the passenger seat. There are many things that can only be understood by sitting in the driver's seat and driving the car yourself, and I am sure that once you drive the car, you will be impressed.
It is often said that even people who are not interested in cars can tell the difference when they drive a Porsche (and in fact, I did), and this time the Taikan was no different.
."Well then, Taikan, buy it!When asked the question, "What would you like to do with it?", my family is not likely to buy one right now, but I would definitely like to drive one in the future if the charging environment in Japan becomes better than it is now.
Thank you for letting me test drive it!

Hi Mina!
I see you got on the Taikan.
Personally, I was struck by that acceleration and the performance of the 10-pod PSCB.
With a vehicle weight over 2 tons, that boolean is an option I would love to have.
I haven't test-driven a car with normal brakes, but ・・・・
I was told not to launch start in town, have you tried it?
Maybe only car enthusiasts are pleasantly surprised by the electric sports sound.
I had it turned on during a test drive in Tokyo, and the moment I turned it on, people around me turned around.
Personally, I think it sounds good, but I wonder if it is perceived as noisy by those who are not interested.
However, it is quite quiet when not turned on, which may help in recognizing the surroundings in a busy environment.
Also, did you mind the over 2m width of the car?
I felt that the number of people who could afford that kind of car would be limited, as it would take a lot of space to put it in that width.
The PC rep also said he's having trouble targeting it, considering all the things he's done. ・・・・・

Taikan, that's great...!
I haven't tried launch control, as you might expect.
It seems like a terrific way to watch car test drive shows...!
I'd like to taste it once!
Electric Sport Sound, it sure sounds pretty loud outside...
After all, the sound of engines and cars has always been noisy in general...^^..;
I didn't particularly care for the width of the car. But I certainly wondered what kind of person would buy a Taikan.
It seems that there are not very many of them, and it seems to be very difficult for the dealers.
My wife drove the car for a test drive. We were impressed with the ride quality. We were thinking of buying one, but frankly speaking, I thought the interior was too weak for the price. I know it is an electric car for environmental issues, but if it costs 8 million to replace the battery, would anyone buy it as a used car? If the car is scrapped after 100,000 km or so, which is more eco-friendly, gasoline or electric? If the car is scrapped after 100,000 km or so, which is more eco-friendly, gasoline or gasoline?
Mr. 991-2 GT3 MT
I see you took it for a test drive!
>I'm assuming it's an electric car for environmental reasons, but if it costs 8 million to replace the battery.
It takes that long...!
That, indeed, would be a big deal if that were actually the case, and I would think twice about buying a used one.
As for electric vehicles, we will be watching and carefully considering them for some time to come, as well as their future evolution....
You experienced taikan... lol...
(I also commented on Twitter, but I can't write for long there...)
I thought, too, that the Taikan was closer to a 911 than a Panamera!
Both exterior and driving feel.
After all, the fly line around the C-pillar is almost the same as that of a water-cooled 911, and the gently sloping fenders on either side that can be seen from the driver's seat are also truly 911.
It looks like a sports car because the height is much lower than the Panamera.
I thought the ride was very comfortable and not hard at all. The 3-chamber air suspension derived from the Panamera does a great job, and in normal mode it feels like a saloon.
I was amused by the light power steering at low speeds, but I thought it was okay because it gets a little heavier at higher speeds.
Perhaps it was the good aerodynamic performance, or perhaps it was the battery laid out on the floor, but the more we drove on the highway, the flatter the ride was and the more impressed we were.
It looks like a "muscular cloud".
The ultimate in "Porsche Electric Sport Sound"!
As I mentioned in my blog, I have a fetish for engine noises, and I love the mechanical sounds made by the cylinders and pistons!
Therefore, the sound of engines that have been downsized and turbocharged for greater efficiency and lower CO2 emissions is no longer very appealing.
When I put on the popular "Spoeg" system on my Porsche, all I could hear was the sound from the muffler and not the mechanical sound from the engine (tears)!
Not my favorite at all!
If that is the case, then I thought, "Why bother with the engine at all?" I thought, "If this is the case, why do we need to be concerned about engines any more?
I was fascinated by the "Porsche Electric Sport Sound" I heard in the pre-launch development video of the Taikan and the launch video in my home country, which appeared before me when I had this idea.
Thanks to hearing that thing? I poked the seal on my early reservation for Taikan.
Well, personally, for a certain anime geek, that high-frequency sound was a nudge!
I wonder if anyone arafi agrees with me...

Finally got to experience Taikan!!!
That's a great car!
Injunia drove the Fuji Speedway in a Taikan.
I imagine it must have been terrible (although it was a torrential downpour...)
>It looks like a "muscular cloud".
Oh, I know what you mean! I've never been on one, but it's like a muscular cloud flying just above the ground: !!!!
It felt so good.
And I think many people are fascinated by that sound.
It is a sense of the future that cannot be expressed in words, but must be experienced to be understood, and makes you want to listen to it all the time.
I look forward to reading more of Taikan's blogs in the future.
