I bought and drove the Porsche Taikan and found it to be a great driving experience.

It has been almost a month and a half since my wife bought Taikan.
I use it for occasional runs on the Ashiu Driveway, commuting, and family transportation. In this article, I would like to talk about the driving appeal of the Taikan, and I will report on its usability as an EV in detail at another time.
Our Taikan is a cross-turismo 4S.It has 490 PS in normal operation, 571 PS maximum output, and a 0-100 km time of 4.1 seconds. This is more than enough power, but the key to its performance lies in the chassis setting.
Impression of city driving
First of all, the car starts out very massive and smooth. Although similar to the Panamera, it is much less cluttered and smooth from the first roll of the tires. The Taikan has two gears, which is unusual for an electric car, but it rarely shifts gears in city driving. This allows the driver to enjoy the ultra-smooth operation that only an electric car can offer.
Acceleration is continuous with no sense of gasping for air. The smoothness of the acceleration after slowing down and turning at intersections and then re-accelerating is a noteworthy feature. Since there are no gears and the torque picks up instantly, there is absolutely no difference in movement from what one would expect.
No, it is smoother than human imagination.
Since there is no engine, not to mention the quietness of the system. The Taikan this time has sport electric sound, which, when turned on, produces an indescribable electric car-like motor sound that echoes inside and outside the car. This is very good when turned on, such as sometimes when it is too quiet and you feel it is not enough.
The sport electric sound is very well done. For example, when accelerating, the sound is low and loud, as it would be under load in an engine car, and relatively quiet when cruising. When decelerating, the sound gradually becomes quieter, like the sound of an engine under engine braking. When changing modes, such as Sport Plus, the sound is similar to that of a Porsche with an engine, and for a moment it sounds as if the engine has been blown.
They also produce a gearshift sound when accelerating or shifting into second gear. It's not just a playful, simple sound.I would like to strongly state here that
The GT3 500PS is just frustrating and not fun at all in the city, but the Taikan 500PS is a usable and enjoyable 500PS for city driving.
Starting, overtaking, and re-acceleration from deceleration all require only a little effort on the tip of the right foot.It requires less acceleration than any car I've ever driven. It's really easy and controllable, making driving very enjoyable, and I've often heard that once you've tasted EV driving, you'll never go back to an engine-powered car, and that's exactly how I feel with the Taikan.
Impression in winding
As it turns out, it bends like crazy. It turns in a different dimension that is unimaginable from the body size and weight. This particular car has rear axle steering, but even without it, it turns well.
Even though the car weighs 2.2 tons, it turns with so much room to spare that one wonders how long the tires will hold up.
The initial response feel of the steering is at the 718 and 992 level. This is what I say, having owned and driven them at the same time, so you can be sure of it. At the very least, it is completely superior to the 991 and 981 generations.
There is nothing to say about the stability, controllability, or sense of security in the middle of a curve. The Macan's athletic performance is awesome among Porsches other than the 911 and Cayman Boxster, but in terms of feel, it is even better. no wonder Kazuo Shimizu on Youtube says the Taikan is faster than the GT3 when testing double lane changes.
The Macan, Cayenne, Panamera, and Taikan, the Taikan is by far the most athletic and pleasing to the senses among Porsche's four-door series. Before,Review at the CircuitI think again that I was not mistaken in thinking that the feeling I had when I first saw the car, "It looks a lot like a 911.
Impressions on the highway
It is no longer a "Nozomi".From the toll booth, the car smoothly reaches cruising speed in no time, without any sense of holding its breath, and without even knowing that it is in second gear.
It is not as fast as you might think, and since it remains quiet and there is no such thing as rotational vibration of the engine, you could find yourself going a hell of a lot faster than you realized.
It is extremely flat, and the low center of gravity due to the battery being laid under the floor comes into play here. There is almost no swaying from side to side.Although the unit is not equipped with PDCC, it feels as if it has PDCC.
What is also noteworthy is its aerodynamic qualities. I remember the first time I felt that this is what good aerodynamics is when I drove the Taikan on a test drive before. It feels as if the car is running along air rails, and rather than a downward aerodynamic effect like the downforce of the 911, the Taikan has the aerodynamic effect of driving straight.
The stability of the 991 GT3 Touring and the 971 Panamera Turbo was also of a different dimension, but the Taikan surpasses them. It is a Porsche that can be driven more safely and without any sense of speed.

Unfortunately, the Taikan is not very good in terms of resale. So many people shy away from it for that reason, and also because it is an EV.
However, as I have said before on this blog, the driving is unmistakably Porsche.
Soul, electrified. It's an electrified soul."
When the Taikan was announced, it appeared with this tagline. The intention was to say that it was an electric car with the "soul of Porsche," and the catchphrase was not false. No matter who drives it, anyone who understands Porsche driving will know that it is a Porsche.
It is such a Porsche-like car. And in addition to that, the high power can be enjoyed in the everyday range. That is the charm of this car.
If you buy a Taikan and drive it well, you will probably be more satisfied with it in everyday life than with any Porsche. At least in my family, it is so. The Taikan is the number one Porsche that is convenient, fast, and enjoyable on a daily basis.
Its performance and good feeling will compensate for the poor resale value. That much I can say.

Thank you for always sending valuable information.
I am buying a 911.1 GT3RS next month. I have only had a negative impression of BEVs, but yesterday's show changed my mind a bit. Since I bought the ultimate gasoline-powered car, I started to think that a Taikan might be a good choice for a family car for the ultimate ride. I am a condominium resident and have some concerns about the normal charging facilities in the common space. I look forward to more information on operation with normal charging in the future.
Hello, Yukisuke.
Is it a 991.1 GT3RS? Nice.
I remember that was reviewed by Mr. Matsutoya on Car Graphic TV at the time with a big smile on his face.
It's hard to think of a time, later or later, when I've seen so many smiles and sticky compliments.
That's how good the 991.1 GT3RS is ^^.
Taikan, please consider this.
If you have a shared charging space in your apartment, I think it's totally fine.
I can manage to charge my house with a 100v power supply.
