A friend of mine bought a Porsche TYCAN GTS and gave me a ride. I would like to report on the test drive impressions and the differences from my family's TYCAN 4S Cross Turismo.
How my friend purchased the Taikan GTS
My friend originally drove a BMW 320i, and when he had driven it for 5 years and 50,000 km, he was thinking of replacing it with a BMW 4 series M440i coupe. However, it suddenly occurred to him thatHe has also become interested in Porsche's Panamera.
So he asked me for advice. I had driven an M440i before, but I told him that Porsche is still a step up from that, and the Panamera in particular drives wonderfully, just like a Porsche.
As we talked, I was listening to my friend's lifestyle and what he wants in a car,'Then wouldn't it be interesting to see the EV Taikan?'This was the story.
I had just purchased a Taikan myself, so I told him, "The Taikan is really good. It runs even better than the Panamera," I told him enthusiastically. Then he seemed to be completely interested in the Taikan.
And after searching used car sites, they found a Taikan GTS in very good condition. Moreover,They said there was a huge discount that was unthinkable. It is a very good deal even if you ask just that.
Difference between 4S Cross Turismo and GTS
Now that we have been taken for a ride in that Taikan GTS, let's first compare the appearance of the Taikan GTS to that of the Taikan GTS 4-door coupe,Our Taikan 4S Cross Turismo appears larger overall, partly because of its wagon body. The bulges of the front and rear fenders look much larger than they should be, even though they are not that different in size.
On the other hand. The GTS feels very compact and more sporty. In fact, my friend liked the styling of the Cross Turismo and said, "This is cool! It's like a grown-up Taikan!" and even joked that he would trade me.
The most notable feature of the exterior of the Taikan GTS is the presence of exclusive aero parts. The aero parts unified in black accentuate the aggressive impression. The interior also includes an interior package exclusive to the GTS, which is very cool.It is indeed a GTS.
What about the difference in driving?
First, the overall impression is thatThe Taikan GTS feels lighter than the 4S.There are several reasons for this difference, including power. The Taikan GTS delivers 517 hp normally and 598 hp at launch control. The 4S, on the other hand, has 490 hp normally and 571 hp at launch control. Naturally, the GTS is faster in 0-100 km/h acceleration.
However, in everyday driving, it is not so easy to feel that much difference in power. The biggest difference in driving feel was in the size of the tires and wheels. My 4S Cross Turismo wears 21" and the GTS wears 20". Because of the smaller size, the GTS felt more nimble and the GTS seemed to have less fine vibration.
It should be noted that the GTS is equipped withIt is the presence of PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control). The active stabilizer suppresses roll to the limit when cornering, making the car feel as if it is absorbing the road surface. This is a feature not found in our 4S Cross Turismo, and is an attraction unique to the GTS.
Of course, the 4S Cross Turismo is flat and stable enough, but the PDCC of the GTS is even better. When driving on winding roads with the car in Sport Plus mode and at the lowest possible ride height, the driver feels a sense of oneness, almost like a racing car. The car turns in sharply as soon as the steering wheel is turned off, and the car exits the road with a strong grip.
It is truly an exceptional athletic performance, at least among Porsche's four-door models. No other four-door Porsche has such a sporty setup.
Difference in body type
I noticed more than just the difference between the 4S and GTS on this test drive,It means that there is a big difference between a coupe body and a cross-turismo.
The GTS coupe body is lower in height and slightly narrower in width. The GTS coupe body has a lower viewpoint and a lower hip point, making it a more sports car-like ride. In contrast, the Cross Turismo has a slightly higher center of gravity due to its larger body.
Of course, the cross-turismo runs great, but if anything, the cross-turismo isIt gives the impression of a "car that normally feels like a luxury car, but is actually a sports sedan."I think the appeal of the Cross Turismo is that it is "leisurely (than a coupe), yet quite fast."
On the other hand, the coupe body of the GTS has a "pure sports" feel, much closer to the 911 and 718.It is a car with a strong sense of so-called "ride".
summary
The Taikan GTS is truly a 4-door EV that takes sports performance to the extreme. With PDCC installed, the handling is unparalleled among Porsche's 4-door models. The direct acceleration and high cornering potential of the EV are nothing short of spectacular.
The Taikan 4S Cross Turismo, on the other hand, offers an excellent balance between everyday usability and spaciousness. It never feels underpowered, and it will also demonstrate its capabilities in long-distance touring.
The test drive showed the depth of the Taikan model.
It is indeed Porsche that can give the same EV such a different character.
If you are considering purchasing a Taikan, it is important to first carefully consider how you will use it. If you want to use it more for daily use, choose the Cross Turismo, if you want to enjoy driving on winding roads, choose the GTS, and so on, according to your needs.
In any case, there is no doubt that the Taikan is a real Porsche. The soul of an electrified PorscheI want you to fully enjoy the
