Porsche Sport Seat Plus

The other day, my husband had the opportunity to test drive a 911 Carrera S (992 model) at the track, and when he got home, he said something like this.

I drove a 911 Carrera S this time.I wonder why the ride quality is so different between our plain 911 (992 model) and the S.I thought about it a lot, and I figured it out. The seats make a big difference. Of course, there are differences in the suspension and the flavor of the car, but I now understand that the comfort of a car can change so much depending on the seat.

And.

I have previously published an article titled "Importance of car seatsI have written an article about this before, but I wonder if it has a big impact on the comfort of the ride. My husband continued

The seats that came with the 911 Carrera S this time were Sport Seat Plus.Is it a sportier seat because it's named "Plus" for sport seats? If you want to enjoy the 911 in a luxurious way, I guess you should choose the Sport Seat Plus.

He said.

Sports seat of our 992

Our 992's sport seats are alsoIt is comfortable, not too firm, not too soft, and not too thin.Personally, I find the current sports seat just right, as I find seats like carbon full bucket seats, which are wrapped tightly inward from the shoulder and waist area, to be a bit cramped, and I also have a hard time finding a good seat position for thick, soft, sofa-like seats.

Porsche 911 Standard Sport Seat

My husband, however, has been talking about this sheet for a while now.

I'm not a big fan of these sport seats.Hey. If I had to pick one complaint about this 992, it would be the seats. It doesn't have much side overhang like the Sport Seat Plus, so I think it's suitable for larger people with a large seat. However, I think theThe seat cushion is thin and hard.It looks like a Mercedes coupe type seat from a long time ago.
By the way, mine are the standard partial leather seats, but the other day I sat in the full leather version of the same sport seats. The tension of the leather was a little softer and a little more comfortable. But it's not as good as the Sport Plus seats.
I did the same thing with the Panamera, but recentlyPorsche seats are more comfortable than the more expensive optional sporty seats.I guess. Especially in the case of the 992, if you value comfort and seating, I would say the Sport Seat Plus.

He said.

If the seat changes the comfort of the vehicle, then the seat is also an important point to consider. However, if I were to put it that way, I don't think I would be able to decide on the specifications when ordering a new car considering my budget (laugh), and it would be difficult to find used seats.

If I ever get a chance to test drive a car again, I will try to be aware of the differences in the seats.

I think I know what your husband's view of the sheet is.

I got the same impression from this article when I replaced a 718 standard seat car with a car with leather seats, although it is also a 718.
    なんか、座面が肉厚というか・・・走行中はPASMの効果もありますが、ドア開けて、座った瞬間に、なんか座り心地が良いって思ったことを思い出しました。

    I don't have any experience with Sport Seat Plus (^^;

I see! A sheet is really important...!
I have never paid attention to even the seats when I test drive, but I thought I would be aware of them from now on.

I always enjoy looking at your site.

    I agree with you.

Sport・・・・The side bolsters are low and it is easy to get in and out of the car in tight spaces and comfortable for short periods of time, but for my slender frame and back pain, it is impossible for me to drive for long periods of time because of the pain in my lower back and buttocks.

Sport Plus: The seat shape is lowered behind the buttocks, the seat sides and back sides have a high overhang, and the seat surface is thick, so it wraps the body in a good degree, so I don't get back pain at all even on long distances (Kobe to Tokyo). 18-way is best, though.

The perforated seat and back of the full leather are as comfortable as Alcantara, and the fact that they do not slip is also a comfort factor.

      Thank you for everything!
So much different with Sports Plus! I love the fact that you can run long distances and not have back pain!
I didn't know that it was as non-slip as Alcantara.
My husband doesn't like the seat of his current 992 a bit, but he has only driven it a medium distance and I will ask him what he thinks after another long distance ride.
      Thank you!

I enjoy reading your articles every time I visit your site.

    I'm sorry if I'm wrong ...
Tracing your husband's recent comments, I sense a deep-seated sense of dissatisfaction with 992.

I also drive a bare 992 (S wheels), but my legs are quite stiff and the stroke is small, so I am always subjected to considerable impact from the road surface.
Motor journalists' videos of test drives have all pointed out the ride quality of the bare-bones Carrera.
However, since the seats in the Porsche publicity car that the journalist is testing are Sport Seat Plus seats, we believe that other factors are responsible for the poor ride comfort.
When we asked the Porsche Center, which has both the bare and S models available for test drives, they commented that there is not much difference in ride quality between the two.
Or is it due to the presence or absence of the sport suspension, and if the S is not equipped with this option, the ride quality will not be much different from the bare ride quality?
I am thinking of switching to S because of the ride quality, but I am hesitant to do so because I do not know what is causing such a change in ride quality, and I feel that the bare Carrera engine is the best for our country's road conditions.
We would appreciate your comments and advice to future 992 owners.

      Mr. Tephteph.

Thank you for visiting my blog!
Regarding 992, I asked him, "Are you feeling anything?" for my blog post. Do you have any bad feelings?" I've been asking a lot of questions about 992.
      There is a sense that we are bringing out too many negative points of the 992 more than necessary ^^;
But my husband loves it so much that he has already driven 2000 km in the first month of delivery.

When I asked my husband about the comfort of the bare ride, he replied, "I imagined the bare ride to be luxurious and more moist, but it was surprisingly firm and sporty, which betrayed my expectations. I didn't like it until the first 200km, but now, although it is stiff, I don't find it uncomfortable at all, in fact, I like the stiffness. If you are looking for a more comfortable ride, I think the S is better, and I don't think the legs are too stiff.... But it depends on the wheels, so it's difficult to say....

I am sorry, is that an answer?
It would be nice if the dealer would let us test drive various things to our heart's content... (but I doubt it would be easy...)

Comfort" is a combination of many factors, so it is very sensitive.
This is just my personal experience, but it is possible to feel comfortable just by riding in thick clothes (ex. a little loose, thick top and bottom sweatshirts for fall/winter).
Just by adding a little cushioning to your clothes, you can change your riding comfort, so give it a try.
I wonder if Porsche's seats are made to allow the driver to directly feel the sensation of driving, for better or for worse.

    • Mina.Mina.

      YTAK.
So even your clothes change your ride...!

      >I wonder if Porsche's seats are made in such a way that you can directly feel the sensation of driving, for better or for worse.
Amazing...! I am reading your comments, thinking that it is amazing that you all can feel even the slightest difference.
Next time I ride I'll be more aware of the difference the seats make!

  5. Katsuhiko

From what I've heard on the forums, it seems that the seats get harder when you add the seat ventilation option. Maybe there are more differences in the specifications around such seats than the seats themselves.

    • Mina.Mina.

      Katsuhiko
      Thank you!

      >The seats seem to get harder when the seat ventilation option is added.
      I see...that's how it happens!
      It depends on the options and specifications, it depends on the tires, and the car is really deep... ^^..;

I have been using this blog as a reference for many things in my purchase.
According to this article, it seems that the plus seats are more comfortable than the sport seats.
Since the Sport Seat has less side overhang, does that mean that the Sport Seat Plus has more overhang and holds up better?

    • HiroHiro

      Hi daytona!

      Yes, as you are aware.
The hold is stronger in Sport Seat Plus than in Sport Seat.
In addition to that, seat thickness and cushioning of the seats should be a plus.
So, the Plus may seem sportier, but the Plus is actually better in terms of comfort.
