(5) Charging related
Panamera 4E Hybrid connector is SAE J1772
After taking delivery of the car, I found out from my own research on "EVsmart" and other charging-related materials that the PHV/EV connectors can be broadly classified into the following main categories
CHAdeMO (Read "chademo". By the way, this is the connector of the popularization association)
SAE J1772(Is there a notation like IEC62196?)
There are two types ofOnly J1772 connector compatible with Panamera 4E HybridI did not know this at first. I did not know this at first, so after taking delivery of the car, I went to a free charging port at one of the facilities to try, but the connector was not the same shape, so I could not charge the car.
At the time of delivery, I read the instructions on charging, but I could not fully understand them because they were translated from the German version... I would have liked to have received at least some information at the time of delivery, such as the fact that some spots cannot be charged depending on the type of connectors. Also, the car came with a charging set, but I was told that this set cannot be used in Japan.
Registration with Japan Charging Network (JCN) is mandatory
Then, after that.A company called Japan Charge Network (JCN) provides EV/PHEV users with charging infrastructure services.I managed to grasp the information.(I had quite a bit of trouble finding this information lol)If you do not have a membership card, you will need to log in to the "Japan Charge Network" and obtain a "visitor password" in advance. The procedure is relatively simple.
〘Procedure Flow〙
(1) Click "Issue Password" on the login screen of your smartphone.
Click on "Visitor Registration and Password".
(3) When "Tokyo" or "00 ward" is selected, the name of the target spot appears.
Click on "Decision".
5) "I agree."
(6) Enter information such as credit card, cell phone number, etc.
(7) Password is issued and emailed to the registered address to complete the process.
*The time required from (1) to (7) is about 1 minute.
*It is very convenient to receive an instant e-mail with the "time required, amount of electricity, and charge" when the battery is actually used and charging is completed.
Can't charge at Tokyo Midtown, but can charge at Roppongi Hills?
After registering with the Japan Charging Network (JCN), I confirmed with "EVsmart" that the connector in Tokyo Midtown was J1772, and went to recharge my battery.
First, I input the password and other information into the controller to start charging, but I could not charge the battery, even though I tried in several places. The connector was firmly attached, but the charging controller did not recognize it and I could not input the password. I contacted the dealer several times. The Tokyo Midtown charging port is not supported, but charging is possible at Roppongi Hills. So I decided to try it out at Roppongi Hills.
earlyI went to the Roppongi Hills charging port and attached the connector, and the red light on the right side came on.(Did not light up in Midtown)The battery was then charged. After that, the password was typed into the controller and charging started. Congratulations, congratulations! LOL!
The P2 parking lot at Roppongi Hills has a total of 240 charging ports on three floors from B2 to B4.There are. However, anytime I go there, there are only two or three ports in use. Why did Mori Building build so many ports?(Not that it's an issue I care about lol)
Will there inevitably be more opportunities to charge at the Porsche Center?
After all, there were only a few spots available for charging near my home, besides the Porsche Center. Therefore, we decided to go to theOwners who have a Porsche Center nearby will have more opportunities to charge there! However, it is only available on weekdays and reservations are required, so we recommend that you check in advance. The following is a list of the most common problems with the "C" in the "C" column.(*Some Porsche Centers do not have charging ports)
Incidentally, my Panamera 4E Hybrid requires about 3.5 kWh to run 1 km(The display width up to now is 3.4~3.6)So, charging for around 4 hours at a regular charging port will increase the E-mileage by about 41-42 km.
However, theThe "E driving range of 50km" is a figure for the best environment, and the driving range on a full charge in the city is at best 35-40km, and if the air conditioner is operated in the summer, even half of that, 25km, is not possible. It may be.
Furthermore, all charging spots at highway service areas in the southeastern to Tokai regions I visited were CHAdeMO (certification system: NCS). In additionIn the case of the Panamera 4E Hybrid, it takes 4.4 hours from zero to full on a regular charge of 200V, which is a bit too much to charge in a service area.It may be.
(6) Parking lot related
Previous ArticleAs I mentioned in the previous article, it had been 11 years since I drove a car, so when I first parked my huge vehicle, which was over 5 meters long and nearly 2 meters wide, in a 1950 mm wide parking space, I was sweating even though it was midwinter (laugh). Now I can smoothly enter the garage, but the first time was a repetition of "one step forward, two steps back.
Let's just assume you can't park in a coin-operated parking lot in town.
I have never parked in a coin-operated parking lot in town. There is not a single parking lot in the city that I have seen that has acceptable parking restrictions for the Panamera 4E Hybrid. The only places I have parked in Tokyo are mainly Roppongi Hills and Mori Building related parking lots.
You may ask, "Are you unhappy with the limited parking and small turnaround time?" You may ask, "No complaints about this at all!Once you've tasted the Panamera's excellent driving performance and charm, parking space is no longer a big issue.
Check parking space in advance at the travel inn.
I like traveling to hot springs, and before I bought my Panamera, I often flew to visit hot springs all over Japan. I've already visited five times this year in my Panamera 4E Hybrid.Always check with the inn in advance about parking.I try to do so.
If you have to park in a narrow space and the car next to you opens its door and hits you with a "thump! When the car next to me opens the door, I would feel sorry for my Panamera if I bumped into it.
When making a reservation for lodging, be sure toSince our car is somewhat large, would it be possible for you to make arrangements for us to have space for two cars, etc.?"I have confirmed that all the hotels and inns I have stayed at have been very pleasant to deal with.
(7) Options you wish you had added/points you would like to see improved
Options I should have kept on.
It's been about six months since I took delivery of my Panamera 4E Hybrid, and if I were to consider buying a new Panamera 4E Hybrid, the one option I wouldn't want to miss is the
(1) 20-inch wheels...I really wanted 20-inch wheels, but I was advised that "the ride might be uncomfortable" and went with 19-inch. However, I was advised to go with 19-inch wheels.Panamera Turbo wheels, why my husband dared to choose 21-inch wheels.I read the article "I should have gone with 20 inches!" I thought later.
(2) Rear axle steering... I would like to experience the feeling of "it feels like a big turn at first but turns incredibly sharply in the middle of the turn".
(iii) Soft-close door - to prevent half-door warning sound
I would also like to add adaptive cruise control and sport exhaust, but then I would have toWorried that the vehicle weight will be even heavier and will exceed the weight limit of the condominium's multi-story parking garage. It is.
However, it is difficult at this stage to determine the exact vehicle weight with options installed, so I hope to be able to share this kind of information in the Porsche Owner's File in the future.
Navigation system is a little difficult to use
I don't have any major complaints, but if I had to pick one area where I would like to see improvement, it would beNavigation system seems a little out of the box.I guess it's the same thing. Distance and arrival time are accurate, but there is a slight discrepancy in response to moving points and zooming in and out of the map... sometimes I wonder, "Why did I choose this route?" Sometimes I wonder "Why did I choose this route?
Gasoline tank lid is hard to close.
Another minor point is that the gasoline tank lid is difficult to close. When I asked the person at the gas station to help me when I first started, he said, "I don't know how to do that..." (laugh).
8) Panamera 4E Hybrid General Comments
No Panamera ,No Life!
I can't speak highly of it because I'm not ready for full-fledged sport or sport-plus mode driving yet.Torqueful sound and the feeling of being pushed forward is great! It is.Only a Panamera of this size can offer such a smooth ride that sometimes feels as if it is crawling on the ground, despite its large size.I think that if we can ride it even better than we do now I think that if we can ride the car even better than we do now, we will be able to experience the "Jinba Ittai" (unity of rider and horse) driving experience.
Also, while other cars will reach that speed by accelerating to 150 km/h, the Panamera 4E Hybrid will exceed 150 km/h before you know it.(We usually observe the legal speed limit.)This is a big difference, because the car has the potential to reach a top speed of 278 km/h in 4WD, allowing the driver to surrender himself with ease.
In fact, I went for a test drive of a German car the other day, and I honestly felt that it was insufficient and boring. It is also true that once you become a Porsche owner, you are afraid that you might not be able to change to any other car (laughs). It is truly "No Panamera, No Life"!
On a personal note, I have been curious about "live crabs" at Kinosaki Onsen Nishimuraya Honkan for several years. Since it is inconvenient to visit by public transportation from Tokyo, I am thinking of traveling by Panamera, and I am very much looking forward to it.
However, it has only been a little over six months since we took delivery of the car. We are now at the stage of tasting the true goodness of the Panamera 4E Hybrid, so I am looking forward to it, and for some reason I feel a sense of pride in it.
9) What is Porsche to you?
Finally, what is Porsche to you?
It is a "crush itself"!
I think if you want a car with a crush and step on the gas pedal, your whole body will be thrilled and you'll be thrilled for a long time to come!
I, too, originally fell in love with the Panamera and started this blog. As I read Pol Pol 4E's writings, I thought, "Yes, yes! That's exactly right! I hope that the appeal of the Panamera, the ultimate sports car, will be conveyed to more people. Thank you very much, Pol Pol 4E, for providing us with this information.

Mr. Pol Pol 4E.
Thanks for the follow up!
Again very informative. I am very interested in the two-step acceleration from motor to engine.
I did not know much about this, but there are various specifications of charging plugs. I bought it without much research on the charging situation, but I would like to look into the situation a little more.
On a side note, I called the dealer just yesterday and they told me that they are assembling the car now and will be able to deliver it by the beginning of next month! According to Mina's and Pol Pol 4E's information, the car will be assembled in Germany and then shipped to Japan, so it will take a little less than half a year or more, but I wonder if the process from order to assembly is different in America...? I will try to ask them about it and share the information with you!
Mr. SN.
Thank you! I didn't know anything about the charging plugs, so the information given by Polpol4E was very helpful.
>As a side note, I called the dealer just yesterday and they said, "We are assembling the car now and will be able to deliver it by the beginning of next month!" It looks like the car will be delivered in 2 months from the time of order.
Wow, that's crazy fast! Is it because the U.S. has a lot of production quotas? Or is it because Japan has to go all the way across the ocean?
We would be very happy if you could share this information with us in the Porsche Owner's File (though it is too early to do so ^^;).
We are almost ready to deliver the car. Keep up the good work!
Mr. SN.
Thank you for your comment!
As long as there is a gas station, E-Charge driving is sufficient to charge the battery in the city, and this is one of the good points of the Hybrid.
Because an EV can't (possibly) replenish its energy in a power outage situation!
It will be interesting to see if such risks are avoided in the future.
I am envious that the car was delivered in 2 months.
And you get to see the Panamera about four months earlier than you would in Japan!
Please continue to share information with us.
