Porsche Owners File #16] Cayman (981) - Purchase, Options and Driving Review

4) Fuel consumption
12-14 km/h on highways and 10 km/h on down roadsWhen I saw the Cayman's fuel economy I thought it was an eco-car because the 523i's fuel economy is so bad (laughs).
(5) Ride comfort, glide taste
As for ride comfort, it is equipped with a fine damping adjustment, which can be adjusted from stiff to normal hardness.I think it's a comfortable ride for a sports car.I think.
However, as mentioned above, bucket seats have been installed and the suspension has been changed to an external one.The ride quality is likely to be different from a Cayman with the stock ones.
As for the ride quality, "the 523i pushes the heavy body with a big engine with a lot of room to spare," whereas "theCayman is a lightweight body with a big engine and a buehnIt is an image like "I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.(Too much vocabulary w)
The 523i often feels electronic intervention, and in Comfort mode, there is a significant time lag in acceleration when the accelerator is pressed down hard. In Sport mode, the response is much better, but not as good as the Cayman.I felt a lag in response compared to the E46 320i my father owned before the 523i.I was very pleased with the results.
forCayman is a pure sports car with a manual transmission and quick responseI will do so.
Also, in circuit driving, it is stillHandling performance, braking performance, rigidity."I thought it was remarkable that the
I've never driven on a track other than the Cayman, so I can't compare."You can still turn, you can still step on it, you can still step on the brake. It was as if Cayman was saying to me, "You know what?
The car was still not performing up to its potential, but I wasn't ready to handle it. Sorry Cayman, I'll get better at driving, I'll try my best.
(6) Family reaction
My mother said, "I never thought I'd actually buy a Porsche...It was like, "I'm not a good person. I think so myself. My father seemed happy.
When I told my ex-girlfriend about this, she said, "I'm not stupid. They said, "That's right. That's right.
(7) Favorite point
It's an erotic waistband. Also, when you turn on the sport exhaust and listen to the "ba-ba-ba" when you take off the gas pedalI'm even glad to be alive."
Thank you, father and mother.
(5) Options I would definitely want to add if I were to purchase a Porsche in the future.
I am satisfied with the current state, but I can't do heel-toe at all, especially since it is very difficult to do so due to the fact that it is an organ type accelerator pedal.I wish I had the sport chrono package.I think it's a good idea.(In the case of the 981, if you have the Sport Chrono Package, the auto-blipping function is turned on when the Sport Plus mode is selected.)
but don't be naive, I'll do my best to get heel toe! So all you veteran MT drivers out there, please teach me a thing or two!
(7) Areas of concern
I don't really like the orange accents on the interior. I don't mind it when I'm driving.
(8) General comments
Love everything about it except the orange interior!
9) What is Porsche to you?
It's "something that enriches your life."
I've never been to an import car gathering or meeting before because even though I have a 523i at my disposal, it's still my dad's car.Attending a meeting for the first time since I bought my Porsche.I am very happy to have been able to do so. We have met new people and will continue to do so.
Since I bought Cayman, my work has been going in the right direction, so maybe there is some kind of blessing in store for me!It may be.
I am going to work hard to keep this guy.
〘Blog manager's opinion〙
The owner "Takemaru" who sent us this report told us in a previous message that he purchased a Porsche as a result of this blog. He purchased a Porsche at a young age and worked hard to maintain it. I was so moved by his love for cars and his energy. Thank you, Takemaru-san!

It is wonderful that you bought a Cayman at such a young age.
I'm merely a layman with a long history of MT.
> Heel toe is not possible at all, especially since it is an organ type accelerator pedal, which is very difficult to do.
I have never felt that it was difficult to shift because of the organ system. All of my cars before I started driving Cayman were suspension type, but I could downshift almost the same way as I did in my previous car, B4. By the way, my Cayman was without the sprockets.
In fact, unlike the suspended type, the pedals are all the way down, so the angle of heel-twist is smaller.
One possible situation in which heel-and-toe is difficult in a Cayman (Porsche) is when the brake is applied very weakly and there is almost no need to heel-and-toe in the first place. In this case, the brake pedal is located quite high, which naturally makes it somewhat difficult to accelerate with the heel. In the case of the Porsche, my impression is that the height relationship with the accelerator pedal is perfect with the brake pedal firmly depressed.
If you are driving leisurely on a mountain pass on a public road with the engine running at medium RPM, and there is no need to slow down before a corner, but you want to downshift, you can blip your toe and downshift before applying the brake. Sorry if I am off the mark.

Thank you!
I will let Takemaru-san know about your comment!

My husband said the same thing as PorscheDreamer. I was reminded of the depth of Porsche's design and that I guess we usually only realize the tip of the iceberg.
Thank you so much for your always informative comments!
PorscheDreamer.
Nice to meet you!
My name is Takemaru, the owner of this Cayman.
PorscheDreamer's envisioned situation, you are absolutely right: !!!!
I was trying to practice in situations where I don't need to heel-and-toe as PorscheDreamer mentioned when stopping or decelerating in everyday city driving, so the brakes are quite shallow.
It seems difficult to practice heel-and-toe unless you are in a situation where you can brake with gusto,...
Very helpful, thank you PorscheDreamer!
Nice to meet you, Takemaru-san.
Mina.
I am not sure if it is appropriate for me to return your comment in preference to Mina's, but please forgive me.
I saw it as a little reminiscent of a long time ago.
As an exercise, I think I have tried stepping on the brake while stopped (can be done with engine off) and twisting the heel to the right without changing the force of the brake. If it works, try the same when decelerating while driving.
Next, the driver should also practice stepping on the brake while the car is stationary (engine running, engine in neutral, side brake engaged) and accelerating with the heel without changing the force of the brake. It is OK if you can accelerate as much as you like with your heel, just as you would normally accelerate.
It is also a good idea to know approximately how many revolutions you will be able to make in each gear at what speed. It would be OK if you can downshift without shock while blipping with your toe while driving at a constant speed. I used to drive at 80km/h on the highway (as much as I could without paying attention to my surroundings, of course), downshifting from 6th to 5th to 4th to 3rd to 2nd gear and back up again. I remember that cars back then only had 5th gear.

>I don't know if I am allowed to comment on this issue without Mina's permission, but please forgive me.
No, not at all! I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do, either.
I'm so glad you commented this way!
Thank you for your continued support.
Takemaru, PorscheDreamer, Mina
Good evening!
I am glad to meet you
Interesting story.
Heel toe is cool ( ^ω^ )
I am also in the process of training.
At the Circuit
Smoothly and safely if possible.
The speed can be slowed down.
quite (usu. negative connotation)
It's the one that doesn't settle well.
I'm sorry.
This is something you just have to practice.
Let's work hard for each other ( ^ω^ )
PorscheDreamer.
I'm so glad you gave me all the details on how to practice! Thank you!
I'd like to say that I'm going to practice right away, but actually, I got hit by a Cayman at a convenience store....
I'll leave it with you until I get back from the repair!
I'll be practicing on an Asset Corsa and a Hankon!!!
Mr. Cara.
It must be a great feeling when you get it right!
We will do our best to make you feel that good!
Let's go for it.
