What's wrong this year? The air conditioning on my Porsche 911 (air-cooled 964) isn't working.

The other day, the air conditioner in my air-cooled Porsche 911 (964 model) stopped working, and my husband wrote an article about it. Please take a look if you would like to read it.

Air-cooled Porsche air conditioner
Recently, he has been switching Porsches on a weekly basis, as if rotating between them.
One day, with summer approaching and the temperature much warmer, I decided to drive my 964 for the first time in a while.
In the parking lot, start the engine and drive off. Thanks to the mega-life battery, the engine starts quite quickly and wakes up instantly.
When I turned on the air conditioner as usual, I heard a faint sizzling sound from the compressor, and was expecting cold air to come straight out.The sizzling sound would not go away forever, and only a lukewarm breeze would emerge. It had been three years since we purchased the car, and the malfunction was immediately apparent, as the air conditioning was on the relatively good side.
After driving for a while, the wind sometimes comes in slightly colder than the outside temperature, but still not cold enough to cool the interior of the car. Perhaps it was the wind from theThis is thought to be due to low air conditioning gas, a common occurrence in air-cooled Porsches. It is.
Refill air conditioner gas
immediatelyMr. Beeforth, the attending physician.and made an appointment for an A/C check and, incidentally, an oil change.
After listening to various conversations, we learned that Porsche cars of this era could never have a zero decrease in air conditioner gas even if there was no obvious leakage, and that the gas would always decrease a little bit at a time. The most common leakage point is around the evaporator piping.
This time, in order to find out where the leak was coming from or if it was just naturally diminishing, we decided to replenish the air conditioning gas and add a fluorescent agent to find out where the leak was coming from.
So, we'll see how it goes this summer, and we'll try to run with it.If the A/C gas runs out quickly, we'll use that fluorescent agent to locate the leak. This was the way to do it.
How well does the air conditioner work after refilling the air conditioner gas?
The oil and filter were changed as well, and the engine was even smoother when we started driving. The last time I replaced it was in November, so I drove about 4000 km, and it had been 8 months since the last time I replaced it.This means that the oil change is not necessary. In modern cars, you can't tell if the oil has been changed at all, but in older cars, it is easy to see the effect of an oil change.
The sizzling sound disappeared soon after driving for a while, and cool air came out from the air outlet. This is comfortable.
Incidentally, many people use this air conditioner lever without really knowing what it means, but if the upper lever is to the right, airflow from the gap between the front window and the dashboard is maximized, and if it is to the left, airflow from the dashboard vent is maximized. The lower lever, on the left, minimizes airflow to the feet, and on the right maximizes airflow to the feet.
Therefore.Basically, in summer, both up and down should be ridden with the lever to the left.
These days, I rarely see air-cooled Porsches in my neighborhood. This may be because it is summer time and more people are placing them carefully due to the recent price hikes. However, I don't care about such things and want to drive as hard as I can. Now that the air conditioner is working well, I will enjoy the luxury of using an air-cooled Porsche on a daily basis.

I bought a 993 last summer and have been looking at your site since May to help me purchase body covers and other items.
I have been enjoying an air-cooled Porsche for about a year, and in the summer, the AC airflow adjustment lever seems to be about 1/3 from the left for the top and 1/3 from the left for the bottom.
The engine noise is lower than that of 964, so I want to open the window so that I can circulate the cold air from the windshield side, and the same for the feet + shorts.
It seems to be good in midsummer.
Let's ride our guns, even in the summer! ...Although the wife only rides the RangRover: ・・・・
Mr. Kizuka.
Nice to meet you, and thanks for visiting my blog!
I am learning a lot about how to drive an air-cooled Porsche in the summer. I see... thank you!
