Goodbye, Cayenne. Until we meet again.

Farewell to the Cayenne E-Hybrid

In early August, we said goodbye to the Cayenne E-Hybrid that had been in our home.

I wasn't planning on giving up my Cayenne so soon, but when I visited the Porsche dealership the other day, I was told, "It's a waste of Cayenne's time these days. The discussion turned to "H," who was in charge of the project. If you don't mind, let's see how much we can get for you.He said.

At that time, they offered us a better price than we had expected. My husband said.

If you drive your Cayenne often on a regular basis, I think it would be a good idea to keep it. But these days I don't drive long distances and the Cayenne is mostly sleeping in the parking lot. That would be a waste, and since the purchase price was better than I expected, I might as well let it go at the right time, before the next Cayenne model comes out.

This was the case.

Porsche Cayenne

Wonderful hybrid model.

Cayenne E-Hybrid. It had been about 2 years since delivery and the mileage was about 16,000 km.

Looking back at this Cayenne E-Hybrid again.Great Porsche with both ride and driving comfort. That's my impression.

My husband and I talked about what a nice car it was every time we got in it, and the spacious interior was a hit with the kids, who all loved it.

Until I got in the Cayenne, I thought, "Cayenne is an SUV even though it's a Porsche, so I guess it doesn't drive like the sports car they think it is.I had imagined that it would be a Porsche, but when I actually drove it, I strongly felt that it was a Porsche in every way: handling, braking, high-speed stability, and the sensation of driving on a winding road.

Rather, despite the high ride height, heavy weight, and largeI'm amazed at Porsche's technology to achieve a solid sports car driving experience.I thought again.

Another point I liked about the Cayenne was the acceleration when merging on the highway, etc.

."Motor assisted. The "extended and instantaneous acceleration is really pleasant and does not feel heavy at all.

Once you get a taste of this sensation, you'llRather, if it's not a hybrid, it's somehow not enough. It was this Cayenne that changed my image of hybrid models. My husband even says that the next Cayenne or Panamera we buy will definitely have to be a hybrid.

And even though I say I haven't had much of a chance to rideMileage exceeds 16,000 km.was because he always drove a Cayenne when he went away.

Awaji Island, Fuji Speedway, Wakayama, PEC (Porsche Experience Center) Tokyo in Chiba Prefecture... It was a truly reliable, enjoyable, and trustworthy car that could handle long drives of over 500 km each way.

Cayenne's car width...

So, why is it that with such a great Cayenne, I never got a chance to drive it?The only reason is the width of the car.

The length of the car does not bother me too much because it is easy to drive and can turn around quite small, but the width of the car is about 2 meters, which makes it difficult to park when I am out and about.

The Cayenne was inevitably out of the way because it was impossible to park in the parking lot of the local children's hospital, and many family restaurants and conveyor-belt sushi restaurants in urban areas are narrow, so the risk of scraping the car was reduced. (In fact, I'm rubbing it once soI think it decreased even more from there...)

At least if the car was less than 1900mm wide... it would have been much easier to drive...!But, since there was nothing we could do about it, we parted with the Cayenne, this time with tears in our eyes.

Incidentally, since the Cayenne went away, I have had the opportunity to move around with my family of five (maybe because of the Bon Festival), and now we are moving around in my beloved little Swisspo with my family of five.

Swisspo has been very successful every time recently, and as an owner, I'm kind of happy w

So we have said goodbye to Cayenne, but we are so grateful for a really good car that gave us so many memories. May it be married to a good owner next time.

    Good morning, Mina.
I am sad to say goodbye to Cayenne.
By the way, regarding the width of the car, if I remember correctly, I think the previous generation Cayenne was 1940mm and the current Cayenne is 1985mm.
If the size of the car is 2m class, it will be inconvenient for the car to protrude from the white line or for the door to open even if it can be parked.

Wow, that's true! It surely can't be that small, can it?
      We have now corrected it.
If only the parking lots in Japan were a little bigger, I would have loved to drive the Cayenne all the time.

I too am exactly worried about the width of the car, which prevents me from purchasing a Macan or Taycan. Both are attractive as family cars, though.

If you have a Cayenne that is a hybrid only, how would you evaluate owning a GLB? I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to say. If the GLB passes the test, it will be a strong candidate for our family.

      >I wonder how those who have chosen a hybrid for their Cayenne will evaluate owning a GLB? I am paying attention.
      Thank you!
My husband was a big fan of GLB and I haven't ridden it yet, but I'm really looking forward to it.
I will report back on my blog!

I drive a Cayenne x5, but I also test drive Cayennes and have friends who drive them, so I know what I'm talking about. The Cayenne is only 5mm larger than the x5, but it handles surprisingly well in modern parking lots. We have a sub-car or a mini, so we drive those as well, but the grandeur of the Cayenne is overwhelmingly SUV. Please drive it again someday. Oh, I also have a super sports car, so I know how to drive well. By the way, how was the fuel consumption?

      Thank you!
If you're just wandering around the neighborhood, the battery charge alone is enough to get you through the day without using any gasoline at all.
Often we could not put gasoline in the car for several months.
So we always kept the gas tank half-full, not full.

When driving long distances on the highway, or when driving far enough to run out of charge.
I think it averages 11km/h (my husband said it goes about 13km/h when run carefully).

The car is heavy because it has a motor, and fuel economy is not so good when it runs out of charge, but
Still, I really enjoyed being able to experience that kind of driving and acceleration.

Hello, I always enjoy reading your site.
We are currently a family of four with two children and a wife, and plan to expand to a family of five next spring.
What kind of staffing did you have in your Cayenne when you had 5 people in the car with child seats?
I am currently driving a Macan GTS, but am wondering if I should switch to a Cayenne because the back seat is going to be too cramped.
I would be glad to hear your opinion.
By the way, besides the Macan, I love air-cooling and enjoy driving a few of those!
Looking forward to another fun post from you!

      KA.
Thank you for visiting my blog!
Oh, you are going to add to your family! Congratulations!

      >What kind of staffing did you use for the Cayenne when you had 5 people in the car with child seats?
The baby seat was on the far left and the child seat (seat only without backrest) on the far right.

I had to pull the seat over so it wouldn't get damaged, and the seatbelt mounting slot was hidden under it.
      It was like the children were struggling to put on their seatbelts ^^;

I see you also ride air-cooled!
I envy you your wonderful car life!
