Is a Porsche front axle lift system really necessary? What I've learned from actual ownership experience.

Porsche has an option called the Front Axle Lift System.
What is the "Front Axle Lift System"?Optional equipment to temporarily lift the front part of the carIt is. It is useful to prevent low-height sports cars from rubbing the front part of the car on steep inclines or parking lot doorways, especially at slower speeds.
The Porsche website says, "The front end is lifted by 40 mm up to a maximum speed of 35 kmh. This minimizes the risk of body contact with curbs or ramps when maneuvering for parking or at parking entrances. It is written, "The
Incidentally, the current config for GT3 shows an option price of 469,000 yen.
Pretty expensive...
Because it is a more expensive option, the blog also has a "Is a front axle actually really necessary? We often receive questions such as the following. For example
I also love Porsche and have applied for the new GT3.
So I have one question.
Should I add the optional front lift?
It is so expensive that I would prefer not to add it and use the money for other options....
Is it still tough if I don't put it on?
I know, I know....
Therefore, today, the "Are front axles required or not?I would like to write about the point of
Is a front axle lift system required?
Incidentally, my husband responded to these questions in this way.
If you have a 992 PASM stock chassis (not PASM sport chassis), you basically don't need it.I think so. Unless you drive on a very steep slope on a daily basis, I have never rubbed my old 992 on the entrance to a gas station or on the slope of a multi-level parking lot. By the way, that 992 had the sport design package, and it never rubbed.
And. On the other hand,
However. For PASM sport chassis, front lift should be added........ I would put it on if I were you because you never know what kind of bumps you might encounter at a convenience store or gas station on your way out. The dealer rep also said that the sport chassis can scrape even the dealer's doorway.
And.
Indeed, when it comes to the sport chassis, the ride height is lowered by 10 mm, but the "It's only a centimeter, but it's a centimeterI think this is a pretty big difference. I think this one centimeter difference is quite significant. Also, when looking for a used car,With and without a front axle lift system. If I had a "GT3", I would still want to choose the one with the GT3, especially for a car like the GT3.
Front axle lift system, expensive if retrofitted...!
I have also received this message regarding the front axle lift system.
Front lift, though,I think it is definitely better to put it on as stock since it costs 700,000-800,000 if it is retrofitted. If it is retrofitted, there would be less space in the front trunk.
As far as the GTS is concerned, the front lip is made up of two parts, each of which is painted matte black,It will cost a whopping 380,000 yen to replace it (cries).
I regret later that I should have only installed a front lift.
seriously
The idea of being stationed in a hospital is just horrifying.
Eee!!! Does it cost that much to retrofit?
Porsche has some options that can be retrofitted, but I guess the price is still quite high for a retrofit.
Also, the replacement of the front lip is also very pricey, so there is that to consider,I think it is a good idea to have a front axle lift system and it is not an option that can be lost.
Front lifts are better to have!
By the way, I used to drive a Carrera T. Since the Carrera T is a sport chassis, the ride height is still low and I did not hesitate to add the front axle lift system. Also, the current 992 model is,A smart lift function has been added that activates the front lift once, registers that point, and automatically activates the front lift the next time the vehicle passes by again.
This was quite convenient.
But in the beginning, I just thought, "You know what?I'm absolutely fine with steps like this!I wanted to run carefully with the front lift activated, even at the point where I was "in the middle of the road," but gradually, "I was not able to get out of the car.Surprisingly good, isn't it?I had a few times forgotten to activate the front lift in a convenience store parking lot and scraped the front lip.
The sound, the shock...I really feel bad just remembering it.
You have to be considerably more careful when descending than when climbing steps, and even if you have the option of a front axle lift system, you should make a habit of activating it... (I'm a side-tracker, really. Lesson learned.)
...so I still have to conclude,If you choose a low-height model or a sport chassis, you should keep the front axle.I think it is a good idea. It is expensive to retrofit, and it is also expensive to replace the front lip, and in addition, it is good to have it for the mental aspect of peace of mind during daily driving.
However, it is just my personal opinion...I hope I can answer some of the questions I am usually asked, such as options that should be put on in the future.

I am not sure if I should add a front lift.
Since it is a bare 992.2, the dealer told me that I don't need to put it on and I haven't for now, but I am not used to a low-height car so I am concerned.
Also the wheel size, I was recommended 20/21 because it would be too expensive to retrofit, so I put it on just in case, but I'm not at all concerned about the wheel size (18" flat ratio of 45 or so is enough), so I might go back to the bare 19/20 wheels and add a front lift.
Other than looks, is there any advantage to having 20/21 wheels?

Thank you!

I asked my husband.
There are several advantages to changing wheels to 20" or 21" other than appearance,
Increased rigidity mainly improves handling and cornering stability
Also, the stability at high speeds is increased and the sense of contact with the road surface is strengthened, allowing the driver to enjoy a sporty driving experience.
However, 19" and 20" may feel softer in terms of ride comfort.
This was the case!
I have written a lot about it in this article, so I would be happy if you could take a look.
Please do!

Our 992-1 Carrera T did not have a front lift, but it is not even at all in everyday driving.
It may be because it is a normal bumper.
When I had a 981/718 GT4, I had to replace the front lip because it rubbed a lot.
The retrofit is a Roberta. Front only would be about 500,000, and if you include the rear, it would be about 1,000,000.
It is said that it will be.
I don't think the 992-2 that you are asking for now needs a front lift lift as well.
However, with the GT3, the ride height is quite low, so I would add a front lift.
Mr. Mocchan
Thank you!

I see...yes, that's right! Maybe it is indeed different from sports design as well!
With GT3, yes, I would feel safer with a front lift...!
Thank you both for your replies.
I have found this blog to be quite helpful in buying a 911.
I read the article you linked to, but since I am not at all concerned about the wheels, I thought 19/20 would be fine.
As I recall, in a previous article, it said that a bare 911 would be fine, and Mocchan is of the same opinion, so it looks like it would be fine without the front lift.
And it is the same if you forget to raise it when you put it on.
I was told that many people do not install a sports exhaust system on a 911 Carrera because it is louder than the stock muffler, so I have not installed one, but I am thinking of installing a sports exhaust system.

Yes, a normal chassis would not be a problem!
Yes, it's the same if you put it on and forget to raise or lower it (sweat).
I think it will be very interesting to enjoy the change in sound when the sports exhaust is added!
Thank you for everything!
GT3 is a must!
I mean, when I put it in my garage at home, I'm sure I'll scrape it.
Even if you use a lifter, it depends on the location and the way you enter a step, etc.
Scrub!
In fact, when I look at my car from below, it's scraping all over the place.
When I borrowed a bare-bones Carrera as a loaner car, it was smooth and garaged.
But if you go straight out on a step, you'll scrape it.
If you are used to driving a car with a short height, you should have no problem.
I see them from time to time, come on!
If you go straight out, I'll rub it!
As expected, he's gone skinny dipping.

Indeed! I also saw a GT3 once that was making a great noise and grumbling in diagonal parking...
The height of a Carrera and a GT3, for example, is totally different, even though you would think there is only a small difference..!
