Published on: 2021.05.15
My husband recently went on a long touring trip in his Boxster GTS, and he has written several articles about it. This is the first of those articles, so please take a look at it if you like.

On the first day, we went to Itoigawa by Boxster in the rain.
On the morning of our departure, the weather was unfortunately forecast to rain. I took the Boxster out of the parking lot, washed it before the touring, and fired up the engine. The Boxster, which had already traveled about 46,000 km, was running very well.
First day on the highway.Plan to drive the car to Itoigawa at once.It is.
As we entered the Hokuriku Expressway from the Meishin Expressway, the rain began to fall much harder. The grooves on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S I have installed are 3 to 4 minutes high at the moment. It is about the same degree, so it is not too much to ask.
And the mid-ship Boxster doesn't have the devil-may-care ground feel of a Panamera Turbo or Cayenne in a downpour. It should be noted that ground contact is sometimes poor.
After about 6 hours of slow driving on the torrential highway, we arrived at our hotel in Itoigawa. We went to bed early that day after confirming tomorrow's route.
On the second day, we will go from Shiga Kogen to Tsumagoi Panorama Line.
On the morning of the second day, the weather has recovered and the sky is blue. Since it rained quite a bit last night, the Boxster, which had been sleeping in the parking lot, is rather clean and dirt-free from the rain.
It looks like a freshly washed car.
We immediately opened the top and headed south on R148.Blue sky and a slightly cold breeze from Shinshu made for a pleasant ride. On the way to K433, I wanted to stop by Tsugaike Kogen ski resort, which I had visited many times as a student.
The Boxster was driven through the winding mountain roads, admiring the spectacular view of snow on the mountains, which cannot be seen in the Kansai region.
Turning left onto R406, we headed for the Shirasawa Cave Gate. We headed for the Shirasawa Cave Gate with the intention of taking some pictures, but there were already several cars parked there, so we had no choice but to go on through. I decided to enjoy the R406, and whipped my Boxster into shape, but the traffic was surprisingly heavy, and I was forced to drive at a sluggish pace.
Driving lazily behind a slow eco-car, almost with a white eye, andAfter getting off the mountain, we headed south on K364 (Kitashin Gogaku Road). This road is quite wonderful. The road is wide, straight, and easy to drive at a good pace.
in turnDriving the Boxster to R292, we headed for the Shiga Kogen Plateau, gaining elevation at once. This is the stage where the Boxster's typical driving can finally be enjoyed. The exciting hill climb in 2nd and 3rd gears is a real treat.
Luckily, there was little traffic, and in no time at all we were near Yokoteyama.
A wall of snow still extends along the side of the road, and many of the mountains are still covered with snow. The temperature is cold, as one would expect, with the frigid outside air andDriving in open-air bath conditions with heating inside the Boxsteris followed by.
Near Mt. Shirane, the smell of sulfur becomes stronger and you realize that the mountain is alive. This area is a great mountain winding road. However, you cannot increase the pace too much because there are many tourist cars. It is best to leave it as a road to enjoy the scenery.
After getting down to Kusatsu, I drove to Tsumagoi Panorama Line for the first time in a long time.Once again, we ran both the north and south courses of the Tsumagoi Panorama Line.I do, but the road is still great. The scenery is great and the road is great. I resist the urge to go back and forth, and hurry onward.
On the way there, the clouds began to look suspicious, and rain started to sprinkle. We had no choice but to close the top, pay the toll without understanding what it was, and head south on what we called the Asama-Shirane Volcano Route. We headed south via the Shiraito Highland Way to the Usui Pass.
Touring the sacred land of Initial D (Initial D)
From here.It is a tour of the sacred sites of the manga Initial D (Initial D).Incidentally, I do have a copy of the Initial D manga, but I am not a particularly enthusiastic fan of the Japanese driving and drifting culture, as I am not that fond of it.
Still, as a Porsche driver in Ashiari, I had always wanted to visit the mountain passes depicted in the manga, but for some reason I had never had the chance to visit the Gunma-Tochigi area until now.
Usui Pass is one of them. For some reason, I had never driven it before. The Usui Pass, which I was driving for the first time, was very challenging. It is especially special to drive in a Boxster. The corners are super tight, like a chicane, and go on and on.
Later I found out that it lasts for 184 pieces. Luckily, there were no cars ahead of me, so I was able to enjoy it as much as I wanted in Sports Plus mode.
The next stop was Mt. Myogi, another famous spot. As we drove through the mountain pass, we saw many cars with Gunma license plate numbers. For some reason, as a Kansai resident, any car with a Gunma license plate number looks fast to me (laugh).
My first run up Mt. Myogi. It is definitely more like a challenging "mountain pass" than a pleasant road.In Kansai, I thought it was a bit similar to the Mt.
While enjoying the "mountain pass" for a while, I felt somewhat agitated when a car with a Gunma license plate came up behind me, and I proceeded down Mt. Myogi to a hotel in Takasaki City.
Tomorrow we plan to visit Mt. Haruna and Mt. Akagi. We finished our second day's trip while looking at the touring map book at the hotel.

Hello.
Your husband ran in the Hakuba/Shiga area.
I always go there for spring skiing this time of year, but the last two years in Corona
I was unable to go, so I enjoyed this article instead.
The contrast between the white of the snow and the black of the mountain surface is especially beautiful in the Northern Alps at this time of year.
The view from Happo One ski resort is spectacular.
I wanted to go to Hakuba Village for GW because I had a lodging ticket for Hakuba Village that I got with my tax payment.
I was looking forward to seeing the show, but in the end I was not able to go. I will leave it until the fall.
I will refer to this route when I go.

Yes, I know, it's not easy to get to Corona, and it's not easy to get to Corona.
I would love to visit that area with my family someday.
May the situation settle down in the fall... ><
>We will use this route as a reference when we go there.
Oh thank you!
