Production of Porsche 911 Carrera S and Turbo Hybrid revealed

The Porsche.Next-generation 911 Carrera S and details of the turbo are announced. The first time, the company was in a position to do so.
Lutz Meschke, Porsche's Chief Financial Officer (CFO), made the revelation at an investor briefing.

The new 911 Turbo will use the hybrid system already used in the facelifted 992.2 generation GTS. This will be a non-rechargeable hybrid system, not a plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

In addition, Meshke said,Non-hybrid Carrera S modelproduction will begin at the Zuffenhausen plant in the first half of 2025.

Details of the hybrid system in the new 911 Turbo

The hybrid system in the new 911 Turbo will use a 1.9 kWh battery provided by German battery manufacturer Varta, which just emerged from a financial crisis after receiving a 60 million euro (approximately 6.5 billion yen) infusion from Porsche in August. Varta is said to be a company

Although this hybrid system cannot run purely on electricity, it is equipped with a 54 hp (54 PS) motor inside an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, and combined with an electric turbocharger, it reduces the time from accelerating to maximum torque from 2 seconds to 0.5 seconds This significantly reduces turbo lag. This is said to significantly reduce turbo lag.

Although the reduction in CO2 emissions will be limited to a few g/km, a significant evolution in performance can be expected.

Projected power and performance of the new 911 Turbo

The new 911 GTS uses a new 3.6-liter flat-six engine with one large turbocharger, which produces 532 horsepower (540 PS) and 449 lb-ft (609 Nm) of torque for the entire system.

This figure is close to the current 911 Turbo (572 hp/580 PS) and Turbo S (640 hp/650 PS).

The new 911 Turbo is expected to feature an even more powerful version of this powertrain, and even the base model can be expected to produce more than 600 hp (608 PS).

Evolution of the 911 Carrera S and the return of the manual transmission

On the other hand.Production of the 911 Carrera S will begin in the first half of 2025.The company is also planning to hold a "meeting of the minds" to discuss the future of the company.
The Carrera S, like the base model CarreraNo hybrid technology will be used, and no major technological changes are planned. He said.

They expect the new model to increase power from the current model's 443 hp (450 PS) to around 454 hp (460 PS). The power increase is modest, but for the first time in the 992.2 generationmanual transmissionwill be available for selection. This will be good news for many Porsche drivers.

The base grade Carrera and GTS Hybrid are not expected to be offered with a manual transmission.

Mr. Meschke is a member of theHe commented, "Next year's 911 lineup will be very satisfying."The company is working on a new 911 Turbo and Carrera S. Details of the new 911 Turbo and Carrera S could be announced much earlier than the start of production.

For Porsche drivers, this information is likely to raise expectations for the next 911.

I'm wondering if the Carrera S is NA or turbo.
If you take "no significant technical changes are planned," then it's a turbo.

    I'm a 991.1 rider and I'm thrilled!

      Hello ttkkrr.
Yes, if we take it exactly as it is worded, it means that it is almost the same as the existing S,
      Wouldn't they continue to turbo?
If it were NA, it would surely sell like hotcakes ^^.
