Test Drive] Test the 981 Boxster GTS (PDK) sports chassis, PTV

How comfortable and practical is the sport chassis?
In the case of the 981's sport chassis, it is 20 mm lower than the standard chassis and has 20% front and 25% stiffer springs in the rear. The roll bar is also said to be 10% in the front and 36% reinforced in the rear.
It would be easier to understand if you actually compare the wheel arch gaps.
Note that even though the sport chassis has a lower ride height, theThe owner says it doesn't seem to rub particularly well so far, and it's no better than the GT3.that the front lip is a good idea. Certainly, a front lip of this shape, with no chin sticking out and a slightly shorter center section, would ensure a certain level of practicality.
As far as ride quality is concerned, there is not much difference from PASM as far as driving on normal paved surfaces, even though I tried to sharpen my nerves quite a bit. There is no thrust or gusto, and I think it is about the same as the Sport Plus mode of PASM.
On the other hand, when you go over road seams, manholes, etc.As for the "shaking sensation," it is greater than that of PASM.The biggest difference is that the feeling of the body swaying from side to side is greater than with PASM. Perhaps this is largely due to the reinforced roll bar.
I think the key to choosing between a sport chassis or PASM is whether you can tolerate this or not. By the way, I personally find it acceptable and it is no better than GT3, etc.
Note that the owner currently owns a 991 GT3 and previously drove a 718 Cayman GTS sports chassis. The ride is more comfortable than those, and they want to go on long-distance touring trips.
General Comments and Afterword
It's the same car model I own, and to be honest, I don't feel comfortable giving it too much credit. But I can't. Good things are good. I would like to say this without any discovery or anything.
The 981 GTS is the best.
It goes without saying that if you are looking for speed, high performance, and cornering speed, you need the latest Porsche. There is no disagreement with that. HoweverFeelings that make you feel good even when driving at low speeds and that make you want to ride it as far as you can.are often more strongly held by Porsches of their respective eras.
The appeal of air-cooled Porsches is a prime example of this, and I believe the appeal of the 981 is similar.
This time, I tried a car with different options, which is the same car model I own, but Porsche's taste is different with different options.
The same is true for the difference between PDK and MT, and the feel changes with the sport chassis and PASM. In the used car market, Porsche options are generally not valued very highly. The options for appearance are still better, but especially when it comes to driving options.
I think the reason for this is that buyers don't really care about that option and it doesn't differentiate them, but again, I would tell anyone buying a used car.
."Porsche feels different with different (driving) options.And.
I suggest looking at more options and finding a used Porsche that fits your needs.

Nice to meet you.
I always look forward to your blog.
I was in a 981 Cayman GTS (LHD/MT).
I have put this Cayman GTS on consignment and am currently awaiting delivery of a 992 GT3 (LHD/PDK).
> Every time you shift up a gear, the engine howls with a "Boom! sound as the gears connect and the engine howls. This is a sound that my manual version does not have.
>
> One of the differences between the PDK and MT versions is this sound: the PDK enjoys the sound of both acceleration and deceleration changes, while the MT only has a blipping sound during deceleration changes.
>
> This is honestly enviable from a MT rider's point of view.
Actually, I went with PDK for GT3 for just that reason.
When push comes to shove, the 992GTS is now available with MT (congratulations), so don't worry about PDK.
And as you said, the 981CaymanGTS was also taken back by the next owner at an amazing price.
Even the local Porsche Center told us that "everyone is looking for a 981Boxter/Cayman GTS".
The car only had about 100k miles on it after Porsche Certified N tires and a battery change, so I hope the next owner will enjoy the 981CaymanGTS with PTV.
The 981Boxter/CaymanGTS is a really nice car.
No objection.
Mr. Wada.
Nice to meet you, and thanks for visiting my blog!

Oh yes! I've never tasted it, but it sounds really pleasant, doesn't it!

My husband said, "Oh my God, it's so great! That's so great! The next owner is so lucky! I said.
I have never driven a 981 Cayman GTS, so I would love to drive one if I have the chance ^^^.
Thank you for your continued support.
I always look forward to your blog.
Regarding the PTV option, is it possible to tell if it is installed or not by looking anywhere?
Also, am I correct in determining if there is a sport chassis by checking the PASM button?
I am considering a used car and would like to know if you can help me. Thank you in advance.
Hello, Chinsuko.
I think you would have to ask the dealer to find out if PTV was available, and then use the VIN number to find out the option list at the time.
(Ask them and they'll usually tell you where.)
It is also difficult to determine whether the 981 has a sports chassis or no PASM button, because there are two different types of chassis: sports chassis or no PASM chassis.
However, you can tell by the height of the vehicle: without PASM>PASM>Sport chassis, in that order, each one goes down by 1 cm.
With my fingers, the sport chassis has a gap of just two fingers between the front tire and the fender.
For your reference.
